Bonavista has been telling stories from the edge of the North Atlantic for centuries, and now, a new chapter is beginning.

During our Niche Market FAM Tour, we introduced cruise executives to a community rich in history, culture, coastal landscapes and future cruise potential.

Guided by Crystal Fudge with the Town of Bonavista, we explored the harbourfront and historic town, from Ryan Premises National Historic Site and its connection to Newfoundland’s fishing history, to Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, first lit in 1843, with its incredible puffin colony just offshore.

We also visited Dungeon Provincial Park, met with Mayor John Norman, and spent time with a local archaeologist, John Joy, whose previous experience aboard expedition vessels added a valuable perspective on how guests could experience this coastline.

Of course, the people and businesses complete the story. ❤️ We enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Boreal Diner and explored local businesses including Newfoundland Salt Company and East Coast Glow — products and experiences that give guests another connection to place to take home with them.

As an anchorage port, with guests coming ashore by tender or Zodiac, Bonavista is particularly well suited to niche and expedition cruise.

Some of the cruise lines travelling with us had never considered Bonavista before this visit. Now they have walked its streets, met the people behind the destination and seen firsthand what a day here could look like.

That is how new itineraries begin. ⚓️

Thank you, Bonavista, for sharing your community with us.

🍂 Labour Day Weekend Highlights! 🍂

🌊We spent a day exploring the stunning trails near Maberly—just look at those views!

🍽️ We treated ourselves to the incredible 5-course tasting menu at the Boreal Diner - each dish was absolutely delicious.

🐟 Of course, no trip is complete without a visit to The Puffin Café for their always amazing cod tongue dinner. A true local favourite and a must-try if you’re staying with us!

🚲 We had planned on renting some bicycles fome Sunset High Co a new local Elliston business, but Saturday’s rain had other plans - it’s on our list for next time!

🧀 We had the best car picnic wih an incredible view ton the way home with mouth watering sandwiches from Oh My Cheeses in Port Rexton. 🤤

🎉 The season isn’t over yet—there’s still time to plan your fall getaway. Whether you’re here to hike, relax, bike, or eat - we hope you enjoy your stay!

🙏 A huge thank you to our friends at Newfoundland Vacation Rentals for going above and beyond to ensure every guest has a 5 ⭐️stay!
