Welcome to the first portrait from a series that will be an attempt to create 10,000 portraits over the rest of my life (or however long it takes).

Meet @udayjhamb, a serial entrepreneur, who pioneered the thriving hostel industry in #Goa when he started @roadhousehostels. He then went on to turn his passion for collecting printed cotton shirts (at one point I remember he had almost 100 of them stored in my apartment in Goa) into a curated fashion label called @babajaams. Uday is also a keen herbalist and lover of dogs. He can often be spotted chilling at @babaaurhumcafe.goa or hanging out with Chiku, the three legged dog who lives on the bench outside @creamchocgelato in #Anjuna.

I chose to shoot Uday in a style inspired by the Johnny Depp film #FearAndLoathingInLasVegas because that film and the art around it just reflect his energy perfectly. #IYKYK 😜

Uday has been waiting for quite a few years for me to release this portrait.. the first one I created when I first set out on this endeavour back in April 2019.

The idea behind this series is to create and share interesting portraits that tell a story in an attempt to test @malcolmgladwell’s #tenthousandhours theory from his book #outliers.

My selfish reason for this series is also to connect with interesting people (with a very strong focus on builders, artists, creators and game changers).

I have no idea how far I will get with this series. But I’m going to try. So, if you happen to be someone who would like to be a part of this photo series, or know someone I should photograph, do leave a comment with a tiny bit of your story. This is going to be a curated list of models, so if something about you or your story catches my team’s or my attention, I’ll try my best to schedule something with you the next time we’re in the same city.

Version :
They said, "Yeah, I'm an elephant lover," and ran towards the temple elephant. They gave the offerings to his trunk, and he gently blessed them on the head with his trunk as they bowed.

Interpretation :
They said, "Yeah, I love this chained beast." and ran towards the captive elephant in the temple. He was abusively trained to receive the donation and pass it on to Mahout. He was compelled to tap their heads while they bowed.

The irony when someone says they love animals while looking at tortured, tamed wild animals.
