Arriba, el título "Taller Create on the Eight".

Intuition is not magical. It is knowledge the dominant system can't measure. It is the body recognizing a pattern it has lived through before: the shift in a room, the tone that signals danger, the silence that means someone needs care. Fast, embodied pattern recognition, built from experience, attunement, and lived knowledge. So why do we call it “just a feeling”? Because psychology, like every discipline shaped by colonialism, decided whose knowing counts. Knowledge from labs and credentials became “evidence.” Knowledge from kitchens, fields, factory floors, and border crossings became “superstition,” “anecdote,” “instinct.” This is what Boaventura de Sousa Santos calls epistemicide: the systematic erasure of entire ways of knowing. Ignacio Martín-Baró called on psychologists to recover historical memory and to take seriously the lived reality of the people. The intuition of a domestic worker reading her employer’s mood, of a child translating for parents at the clinic, of a community that knows which streets are safe after dark: this is not irrational. It is wisdom forged under pressure. It is survival turned into expertise. Lara Sheehi shows how our field can serve colonial power by turning political conditions into individual pathology. What gets diagnosed as hypervigilance or paranoia is often an accurate reading of a world organized by violence. When the body anticipates the checkpoint, the raid, the eviction notice, it is not disordered. It is paying attention. Our bodies are archives. They hold what our ancestors learned and what the system tried to make us forget. In arts-based inquiry, we create space for that archive to speak. The gesture, the image, the improvised scene slow the pattern down so we can see it, name it, and claim it as knowledge, collectively and without permission. Trust what your body knows. Then remember who taught you not to. Solidarity, always and in all ways. ALT TEXT in the comments

Reflection on Paint Your Autumn: A Creative Wellness Workshop on September 28! Paint Your Autumn was a beautiful evening of reflection, creativity, and connection. We began with a guided visualization and a little fall fun, sharing our favorite cozy drinks before diving into our creative process. A relaxing playlist played in the background, creating space for reflection and setting a smooth ambiance.

Arriba, el texto dice "Taller Create on the Eight" en letras negras grandes.

Threads That Hold US Workshop Recap On July 28th, we gathered virtually for Threads That Hold Us, a workshop curated by Cervitude Coalition's Create on The 8, with support from Lowell Mosaic and facilitated by Mardia. We began with a guided meditation to arrive together, then shared the little things that bring us comfort and joy; from fresh popcorn on the stove to soaking up some sunshine. These everyday moments inspired a drawing session, where we illustrated what keeps us grounded while listening to some tunes. We closed the evening by sharing our creations and hearing one another's reflections. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared a piece of what sustains you. Next up: Rituals for Right Now: Illustrated Ritual Cards for Short Grounding Practices August 8 8:00 PM (ET) As we begin looking toward the transition into fall, we'll create a set of illustrated ritual cards while taking inventory of the practices that have been carrying us over the past few months. We'd love to have you join us.
