💥Q. Your favourite adventure fiction as a child?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🍊Mark Twain’s ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ is a sequel to ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.’ From Missouri to Illinois, from Kentucky to Arkansas this book is a crazy ride of adventure as the risks and thrills are always playing hide & seek with the central characters Huck & Jim. It is an unconventional satire as it addresses social issues like race & slavery. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💥Narrated in the lush backdrop of nature, the book captures the heart of Mississippi River & Southern antebellum society. The author captures human emotions and conflict in the most beautiful ways. The exceptional deep bond that is woven between Huck & Jim captures the heart of the readers. The author ridicules the society by creating a strong bond between individuals of different races. From physical violence to a family dispute, Twain touches it all and turns it into gold. The narrative style is a mixed bag – it is thrilling and emotional at the same time. It is a ride of joy and sadness and sometimes one overpowers the other.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🍊The other characters like Pap, Miss Watson, Widow Douglas, Judith Loftus, the Duke & the King also do produce the necessary flesh of the story. And with the arrival of Tom from the previous book, the author excites the nostalgic thrill of the past and crafts a well-calculated climax of the narrative. With the behaviour and language of every individual, Twain epitomizes the uniqueness of culture and lifestyle.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💥The robust and vivid language of the novel received polarizing opinions as it contained confusing racial undertones (ex- N-word.) Twain’s satire is a work of fiction that resonated with the real world and received strong reactions. Undoubtedly it is the story of Huckleberry and his adventures, but it is also the story of a society where a child is abused by a father and friendship can outshine greed. So pick up this book at your own risk because everyone isn’t cut out for a big fat Picaresque novel.⁣⁣

#HolidayQandA challenge ✨

🎄Earliest holiday memory?
This question got me nostalgic for the good old days when life was simpler around my grandparents. Oh how I miss my grandma((
We used to organize street parties with our neighbors saying good bye to passing year with a dance and a loud music. That was really fun.

🎄Favorite holiday movie?
Here are my all time favorites to make you feel the magic: 🎆
•It's a wonderful life
•The Polar Express
•Home Alone (parts 1-2)

🎄Favorite Holiday song?
I love listening to Frank Sinatra and Steve Wonder.

🎄What was your favorite gift ever as a child?
A bride doll sent by grandma from Moscow

🎄Favorite quote from a holiday movie?
Seeing is believing, but, sometimes, the most real things in the world are the things we can't see.
• The Polar Express 🎞

🎄Favorite holiday book?
Little Women. It's one of my favorite classics and I'm in love with the March girls and their charm, innocent insights.

It was a lovely challenge to take up and I'd love to read your answers to any of the questions above.

As we all know, the passing year was also a challenge for all of us. With all the loss and fights we had this year, let us hope for a better & brighter tomorrow. Here's to a life full of joy & blessings. 🥂

#mybookishconnections

✴️Is there any literary genre that you stay away from?
☀️I used to stay away from non-fiction but in this year I have read many good non fics, only genre I still hate is "self help". Not into that shit.

✴️Is there a book in your shelf you're ashamed you haven't read yet?
☀️ There are many that makes me curse everyday but right now top of my head,- it's Anna Karenina.

✴️What is the most expensive book in your shelf?
☀️ HP illustrated editions and few penguin cloth-bounds

✴️What is your worse habit as a reader?
☀️I keep on buying books even when I have loads of unread ones and mostly I use Kindle to read.

✴️Do you read synopsis before buying the books?
☀️For classics, I buy with my eyes closed. For Other ones yes, always.

✴️Do you buy used books?
☀️ Not that it matters, but depends on the offer also condition of the book and my desperation to get the book. Mostly classics are old ones. And heart wants what it wants.

I'm tagging few friends to try this out, it was sure much fun.
