Last Thursday’s Race Night at the Engine and Tender was a success, raising an incredible £3,600 for Ampthill v Cancer. 🐎

A huge thank you to our very own Steve and Claire, who organised the evening alongside Ken, landlord of the Engine and Tender. We’re so grateful for all the time and effort they put into making it such a brilliant night.

We were also grateful to have local businesses step forward to sponsor the event. Their generosity and support really do make a difference.

A special thank you to our main sponsor, Tower Lifts, and our race sponsors:
💜 CJ Drylining
💜 Urban and Rural
💜 Engine and Tender
💜 Red Peacock Photography
💜 Ampthill Drylining
💜 KJW Drylining
💜 OSS Scaffolding

The evening also included an auction of a signed Luton Town shirt, helping to add to the fundraising total!

To everyone who sponsored, donated, placed a bet, cheered on their horse or simply came along to enjoy the evening, thank you!

It wasn’t just a night at the races, it was the community coming together

💜 We’re so pleased to share another example of your fundraising making a real difference in our community.

On Friday, members of the Ampthill vs Cancer committee and trustees visited Keech Hospice’s Living Well Centre in Bedford to present a £15,000 grant.

This funding will support 11 weeks of @keechhospice Friday Cancer Drop-In Group, providing a welcoming space for people at every stage of their cancer journey. 💜

From specialist nursing advice and emotional support to complementary therapies and simply having someone to talk to, this group offers so much to those who need it.
Nobody affected by cancer should have to face it alone. 💜

This is exactly why AVC exists: to turn the generosity of our community into meaningful support for local people affected by cancer.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports AVC and to the wonderful team at Keech Hospice for the incredible work they do.

Community starts with looking out for each other. 💚

This World Mental Health Day, take a moment to check in with someone you haven’t heard from lately.

A message. A cuppa. A conversation without rushing.

You don’t need all the right words to let someone know they matter.

The fear is worse than the thing itself. The extent to which you fear the event is equal to the amount of freedom, growth and potential you experience on the other side.
