Most people only see the part where you’re “back on your feet.”

They don’t always see the reality that what came after wasn’t a return to normal, but a period of rebuilding.

After a rare and complex breast cancer diagnosis, I had to navigate treatment abroad with the support of my community. That experience reshaped far more than my health - it changed how I approached work, confidence, and identity.

That’s why I speak about growth through adversity and leadership under pressure. Not because it sounds good, but because it’s grounded in lived experience.

💜 £3,600 raised for @ampthillvscancer

It’s hard to put into words just how brilliant tonight was! We bought people together, had a laugh and made new friends.

And that’s what makes Ampthill vs Cancer so special. We’re not just raising money, we’re bringing people together and making a real difference along the way. 💜

There were times tonight that I found especially emotional…..lots of personal stories and conversations shared 💜 And it demonstrates just how important Ampthill vs Cancer is to supporting our community.

A massive thank you to Ken and everyone @the_engine_and_tender, our amazing sponsors and everyone who came along, got involved and made tonight such a success.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I want to raise awareness of something I knew very little about before my own diagnosis in 2021.

Most breast cancers are not inherited. Around 5–10% are thought to be caused by an inherited altered gene, which means the overwhelming majority are not.

But for the small number of families where genetics does play a part, that information can matter enormously.

We hear so much about BRCA1 and BRCA2, but there are other inherited gene changes linked to breast cancer risk too, including ATM.

I’m incredibly grateful to be all clear of breast cancer now, and for me, finding out I carry an ATM mutation changed the scope of my treatment, how I live my life and also led to me choosing to have my ovaries removed.

But it didn’t just give me information about myself, that information also meant my sister could be tested too. She found out she carries the same mutation and, with that knowledge, was able to make incredibly brave decisions about her own future.

Sometimes genetic information doesn’t change what has already happened. But it can change what you, and someone else is able to do next.

So if there is one thing I’d encourage this month, it’s this:

Ask questions. Talk to your family. Know your history.

And if something in your family history concerns you, speak to your GP, breast team or genetics service. Genetic testing isn’t for everyone, but if an inherited altered gene is found, family members may also be eligible for testing.

After a week off work, I’ve been back this week in full swing… excuse the pun 🤣⛳️

As an official partner of both @theopen and @lta, we get to be involved in some brilliant sporting occasions, and this week was definitely one of them.

I was really proud to have @singhabeer_uk supporting the LTA Tennis Foundation Golf Day @thegrovehotel - a fantastic event, a great cause and a very good excuse to get the Singha Land Rover out in the sunshine. 💛

Yesterday I had the chance to speak @altontowers about how you lead, in business and in life, when you don’t have all the answers.

My own experiences have taught me that you rarely do. Instead, you have to focus on what is actually going to make a difference, make the decision even when you don’t have complete clarity, and create the kind of environment where people feel trusted to take ownership.

I also shared some of my own story, including @clairesboobbattle, and how going through some of the hardest moments of my life changed the way I deal with pressure, make decisions and lead people.

And with yesterday being the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it felt like a particularly meaningful day to be sharing it. 💗

OCTOBER MINDSET SHIFT

Having experienced breast cancer myself, I am really aware of how quickly life can change. There is so much I used to worry about, and nowadays it all seems really insignificant (well most of the time 🤣).

But I really believe that you don’t need a life-changing experience to appreciate the life you have.

As I have navigated my way through the last 5 years I have learned that there is no such thing as perfect timing, because the right moment just doesn’t come. You have to stop putting off the things that matter because tomorrow is not promised.

Make the memories, have the conversations, and more than anything, take the opportunity to spend time with the people you love.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m focusing on living life fully, appreciating all the little things and never taking tomorrow for granted.

And please, get to know what’s normal for your body. If you notice something different, don’t put off getting it checked. Early detection matters. 💗

The last few days have given me the time and space to really slow down… which, as anyone who knows me will know, doesn’t come naturally 😂

I’ve met some amazing people, laughed a lot, and had time to properly think about what I want more of in my life and what I’m ready to leave behind.

There hasn’t been one huge revelation, but I do feel different. Clearer, lighter and really excited about my next chapter.

Finishing it all off with 24 hours in Turin has been great fun, and now I can’t wait to come back and explore more of Italy.

Heading home with a slightly different perspective on things… and feeling really good about what’s ahead. 🇮🇹💜✨

Who knew a cucumber could be so inspiring?! 🥒😂

Another brilliant session @bigbusinessentrepreneurs for my Instant Icon speaker training, and this month was a particularly special one!

I got to take the hot seat with the one and only @adamstottcoach, talking about the importance of focus, priorities and how both can drive success.

And then there was the random word challenge… 2 minutes to deliver a powerful, impactful talk on a word chosen at random. No prep, no warning. My word? CUCUMBER! 🥒

I absolutely love these days. The people, the laughs, the chance to learn from others and being pushed to try things I wouldn’t normally do.

And a huge thanks to my coach @jimfrancis_wisdom, what a legend 🙌

Already looking forward to the next one! 💜

What an amazing evening at the Brains 4 Brains Annual Charity Quiz! 💛

A brilliant night bringing our community together and raising vital funds for Brain Tumour Research and Ampthill vs Cancer.

So proud of Gavin White, Laurence Abbott and the whole team, who put in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to make the evening happen.

Such a fantastic atmosphere and another event to raise money for such incredibly important causes 💜

And somehow our team came second… although I can’t claim much credit for any of the answers 🤣🤣 taken in Ampthill by @theclaireyoungperspective
