Consistency Wins! 📈⛰️

His coach describes him simply as his most adherent athlete— “the easiest person to work with.” 🤝✨

It hasn’t been a smooth road this year. From an ankle injury right at the start of his coaching journey to getting sick right before MUT (leading to a tough, but smart DNF decision), Mike has faced his fair share of setbacks. 🩹🤒

Yet, through every single curveball life and running threw at him, he kept showing up, adapting, and trusting the plan. 🛠️🧠

At Cogmans, all that patience paid off. He tackled a brutal 34km route with 1950m of elevation gain—completing his furthest distance to date and earning a race finish he fully deserved. 🏔️🔥

Consistently proud of this guy. Well done, Mike! 🏅🙌

I wanted to write something deep and meaningful about @thecogmans.run and how you can persevere even when feeling terrible.

But then I saw how happy I was too be at the finish line and it got be thinking. Every race will come to an end whether you want it to or not. Its up to you how you get there. Are you happy to be out there moving your body? Are you doing it for the right reasons? Are you going to give up or are you going to keep on going? Are you going to moan and grumble the whole way or are you going to sing a little bit on the route (some birds definitely heard me singing out there).

At some point you will finish, hopefully at the finish line and not a DNF. And you are going to sit on the ground, surrounded by friends, drinking a @jackblackbeer and swapping war stories.

Will you be happy with yourself? Will you be proud?

Weeks since the annual Cogmans excursion and I can’t stop thinking about it!

5th place. 4 mins slower than last year. But-
I felt so much stronger and I’ll take that trade every time😍

The vibe, the stoke and the hurt-box is unlike no other and I’m so blessed to experience this!
This race has my heart❤️✌️

Thought I’d bring you along for the ride.

No cinematic recap. Just a few clips, a running commentary, and whatever was going through my head over 50 km of trails.

It hurt. It was beautiful. I’d probably do it again.

you’ll remember who was waiting for you.

shooting trail races, there’s something exhilarating about climbing mountains, following athletes and capturing the natural beauty and challenge the mountains lay before us.

but there’s something about this part, the moment each person crosses the finish line, that i can’t help falling in love with. my eyes naturally gravitate towards the people waiting on the other side. and so, my lens naturally does too.

whether it’s a mother beaming with pride, a child who’s dreamt of crossing the finish line with dad, a father who has taken a few extra shifts to let mom train, a group of friends supporting someone’s first ever race. there’s a story to every finish.

looking back on this race feeling inspired — not just by everyone who pushed their minds and bodies, but also by everyone waiting on the other side.
