Ride with intention. Not perfection.
Your horse doesn’t need perfect, they need fair and kind.

There’s something to say about the adult amateur rider who started as a kid.

Camp. Lesson ponies. Saving allowance for a Saturday ride. You fall in love before you even know what that means, and you never really get up from it.

I’ve spent 20+ years chasing horses through every season of my life. Not for ribbons. For the horse. Mucking stalls for rides. Moving provinces with nothing and still finding a barn within weeks. Leasing, borrowing, showing up wherever someone needed help and had something to ride.

A few years ago I was gifted the horse I have now. Mine for the rest of his life.

Then I had a baby. Rode through pregnancy until 30 weeks. Had someone else get on for me when I couldn’t. Back in the saddle at 7 weeks postpartum. Did our second ever show this summer with a stroller and playpen in the trailer instead of just tack.

Most people would’ve called any one of these seasons a good stopping point. I never did.

Still here. Still riding. For the love of the horse. 🐴
