🎥 Camera is rolling… something is happening behind the scenes: Any guesses what we’re up to with the beautiful @thegrampians backdrop?

Thank you Haavard & Georgie @thecreativestoolkit @_georginamorrison for their support, time & skill to capture a short clip last week and for @witchone.stitches for this side shot!

Interiors photography has a long history of bleaching everything and stripping a space of its character. Here’s how I captured a moody 100+ year-old Californian bungalow, honouring its natural ambiance and not blowing out my windows.

I’m a published interiors photographer, and the first thing I’ll do when I want to work with the natural ambient light is turn the artificial lights off — overhead, lamps. NO flash.

Then, I’ll bring together objects that feel natural to that space, that help tell a story.

I have my own trove of objects I gather with a suite of images in mind — this antique brass vase, books, and sage, thyme, rosemary and lavender snipped from my garden. They all feel like they belong here.

I think about the feeling and intent of this shoot, and work with different lenses to achieve that.

I find moving to a lens with a narrower aperture allows me to lean into moodiness & preserve more detail.

I also shift focus for different photos — it layers the story, and the feeling of looking out the window yourself.

I keep my edits simple, but also use masking if I need to bring up anything indoors — and leave the windows be!

If you want access to the library & all future additions comment ‘POCKET’ - make sure you’re follow me so I can actually message you!

You don’t need a studio, expensive props, or a dedicated shoot day to create beautiful product imagery. 📸🤎

This entire editorial-style shoot was captured in less than 10 minutes using a bottle of @mrsbakersstillhouse Quince Gin, a few fallen leaves, some quinces, a market basket and bit of linen.

In this Pocket Lesson, I take you behind the scenes of the exact shoot featured in this carousel — from choosing a location and styling the scene, through to camera settings, composition, and the final images.

The secret isn’t having more equipment, it’s learning to see differently. How to interpret a story and lean into your creativity …

To recognise textures, light, colour, and storytelling opportunities that already exist around YOU.

In my opinion, after doing this for over 6 years, the best product photos often aren’t the most complicated. They’re the ones that feel intentional, considered, and connected to the story of the product itself.

If you’ve ever looked at an editorial image and wondered, ‘How did they think of that? … How did they style that scene? … How did they make it feel so professional?’ and wanted to achieve it for yourself, that’s what Small Business Photography is all about.

If you’d like access to the learning library (including this lesson and all future additions), comment ‘Pocket’ below or send me a DM. 📸🤎

I’m Georgina — but my friends, family, and those who have known me forever know me as Georgie.

There’s some new faces around here over the past few months, so it’s time for my annual reintroduction! 🤎

Is there anything you didn’t know about me?

📸✍️🎨🎙️🎶

Would love to hear when & how you found me, or where you’re from? 💭

I’m always asked the question ‘which camera do you capture on’ or ‘which lens do you use?’ before I’m asked how I actually capture the photos I do.

Honestly? It has less to do with the exact camera than you think, and more to do with everything I mention in the carousel above.

Once you start seeing the world like a photographer, and master your storytelling, you’ll be able to capture beautiful photos using anything.

If you’d like access to my learning library 📱📸 comment ‘Pocket’, and I’ll personally send it to you (no robots!).

You don’t need a studio or expensive props, and you certainly don’t need to wait until you have the perfect product to capture. 📸🕯️🤎

In this Pocket Lesson, I take you behind the scenes of a real, impromptu editorial-style shoot that you see in this carousel — created entirely at home, using objects I already had on hand, styling and capturing in motion.

This is about learning to see differently … to recognise beauty you can create easily at home, and to start creating images that feel considered, intentional, and hold their own narrative — without overcomplicating the process.

If you want access to the library & all future additions, comment ‘Pocket’ 📸🤎

If you’ve ever felt exhausted, underpaid, or like your work takes more out of you than it should, this episode is for you.

Comment ‘E8’ and I’ll send it to you 🤍

This is the conversation we’ve never shared publicly. Burnout, grief, and having our designs copied broke something in us. Here’s what really happened behind our business hiatus with Hope & Co. — and how we rebuilt and found our way back.

After over 18 months off the mic, we’re back — and this conversation is one of the most honest we’ve ever shared.

✨🎧✨

In this deeply personal episode, Georgie sits down with her mum, artist and writer @sarahhopestyle to talk about what really happened behind the scenes of their creative business, @_hopeandco_ post-COVID — the burnout, the grief, and the quiet unraveling that led to a long hiatus.

For the first time publicly, they open up about the heartbreak of having their original ceramic designs copied and mass-produced offshore — and the emotional toll of navigating creative theft as artists whose work is deeply personal.

But this episode isn’t about staying in that place – it’s about what came next.

Sarah shares her journey of healing from the unspoken pandemic trauma, how she gently found her way back to creativity, and what it looks like to rebuild not just a business — but a relationship with your creative self.

In the early days of the podcast, when I had a guest on, I would always ask them, ‘How would you define a courageous creative?’ and the answers were resoundingly connected.

Someone who bravely follows their own path, but also understands they’re lighting the way for others as they do so.

Swipe through to read this little poem of mine.
