Wellington On A Plate - Burger Number 16!
The very popular, WOAP winners from last year @te_papa ‘s Kai Kōrero - A delicious STACKED Juicy burger, with Kawakawa Jus, Rewana Bun, Handmade Fried Crisps & A Kumara Crème Brûlée - with a list of Kupu Maori on your table to practise your Te Reo 🫶✨Moorish, Delicious & my second 10/10 of the Festival! A MUST TRYYY 🍔 side note - despite it being so busy & a big wait for a table I promise you it’s worth the hype, the wait and the amazing staff will look after you even though they’re slammed - a great team!

Smoky pulled beef brisket patty with charred cabbage, slow-cooked onion, Pagro Farms watercress, smoked kūmara and parsnip cream, aged cheddar, kawakawa jus and truffle aioli in a Brezelmania rēwena bun, served with chilli horopito fries and a caramelised kūmara brûlée
Vegetarian alternative: beef brisket replaced with grilled halloumi on top of a mushroom, black bean, and beetroot patty infused with kawakawa, horopito, fresh parsley and crunchy walnuts

Kai-kōrero is inspired by how we keep each other well in Hōtoke (winter) by resting, keeping warm, and sharing kai and kōrero together. This year Wellington On a Plate spans two months in the Maramataka (Māori luni-solar calendar), Hōngongoi and Hereturikōkā, which are named for crouching and huddling together and gathering around fire. It is a time to stay indoors and wānanga as a way of preserving oral traditions and history. The smoky flavours of Kai-kōrero are a reminder to gather around the fire and share stories with friends and whānau. In keeping with the Word-of-Mouth theme and Te Papa’s commitment to te reo Māori, they’re encouraging you to be inspired by the Kai-kōrero burger and do just that – give speaking te reo Māori a go while dining in.
