safe·ty /ˈsāftē/ noun
1. the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury. The Five Guiding Principles of Trauma-Informed Care are; safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment. We are highlighting Safety today. Creating safety is an integral component to healing. When our bodies have experienced chronic stress and persistent danger-we shore up our defenses out of pure survival. Our bodies constrict, brace, and defend. This makes sense. Healing and building trust can feel scary. Safety is the key to relationship building and it’s the key to healing trauma. Safety is an important tenant of Trauma-Informed Personal Training. The trainer client relationship must include conversations about creating safety within the body and the movement program. Today we launched the official 4th round of our trauma-informed personal training certification! Today is also the official 1 year anniversary of our TI-PT program with @theembodiedtrainer 🔥check out our directory of TI-PT graduates if working with a trauma-informed personal trainer would be helpful for you! Link in our bio. To become and Trauma- Informed Personal Trainer, sign up today! 🏆Participants will receive a Certificate in Trauma-Informed Personal Training, will be listed through our Trauma-Informed Personal Trainer directory, and will receive a free follow up consultation call with Emily. 📝This certification is designed specifically for Personal Trainers. ⭐️CEUs are available through @nasm_fitness ✏️To sign up, click the link in my bio or email info@hopeignitedtraining.com #traumainformedfitness #personaltrainercertification #TIPT #movementismedicine #traumaeeucation #traumainformedpersonaltrainer #embodiedmovement #braineducation #personaltrainer #lcswc #nscacpt #maryland #wholepersonapproach #embodiment #somaticapproach #traumainformedpersonaltraining #postrraumaticgrowth #growthmindset #brainbasedpsychoeducation #traumainformedweightlifting

col·lab·o·ra·tion | 1. the action of working with someone to produce or create something Collaborating with @theembodiedtrainer started this certification and we are incredibly excited to celebrate 1 year of offering Trauma-Informed Personal Training Certifications! Thank you @nasm_fitness for continuing to support our CEs for trainers! Thank you @laurakhoudari for your continued support and for your steadfast leadership in the space of trauma-informed training. Thank you to all of our TI-PT graduates who continue to provide us with feedback and opportunities to learn more and further develop our program each round! ⭐️The Five Guiding Principles of Trauma-Informed Care are; safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment. We are highlighting Collaboration today! Collaborating with our trauma therapy/personal training clients on what type of movement and fitness program “feels safe, accessible, and helpful” guides the lived experience data that drives the content of our program. Research is limited in this field and often not translated to folks across all lived experiences. Collaborating with providers @anchoredhopetherapyllc and @the.embodiedtherapist on managing ptsd and c-ptsd symptoms in movement practices is an integral component to our work. Collaborating with other trainers who support healing and focus on training folks through an individual lens vs. a one size fits all approach is important to not just the development of our course, but the sustainability of our course. Collaboration is key to building a trauma-informed personal training relationship. Sharing power, acknowledging power dynamics, building a program with the client that allows for feedback, voice, and choice are other tenants of a trauma- informed practice. Working with people means you work with trauma. Being a Trauma- Informed Personal Trainer means you see the impact of trauma on how your client shows up and move through the world. ➡️To become and Trauma- Informed Personal Trainer, sign up today! ✏️To sign up, click the link in my bio or email info@hopeignitedtraining.com #traumainformed #healing #body #somatichealing #movementismedicine

Repost from @theembodiedtrainer • As a therapist and a TIPT I approach my clients from a somatic lens. With just about every client, we’re working to draw attention to how the body holds stress/trauma/tension. As with everything in the training/therapy world, everyone’s body is unique. Everyone’s somatic release check list” will look really different. That is why I consider this visual a TEMPLATE that can be modified to each clients needs. Some things to consider: • Some areas of the body may be off limits due to trauma triggers. As a trainer it’s important to know your professional boundaries and scope of practice • Some folks may have areas of the body that are not accessible due to injury, disability, dissociation • “Release” can be a scary/threatening concept for someone who has existed persistently braced for danger and survived by holding everything in. • Regardless of how each persons release practice looks, it’s important for trainers to understand that there is no right/wrong practice. This visual is not the standard. We can work with each individual client to determine where they hold tension, accessibility of release, and intensity levels. ➡️ To learn more check out the training I co-created with @hopeignitedtraining for Trauma Informed Personal Trainers (link in bio) [ID: white background with the title “Somatic Release Checklist” at the top center. Line drawing of a female body in center of image with the phrases “release brow” “unclench jaw” “take shoulders away from ears” “take a few deep breaths” “unclench hands” “release pelvic floor” “unclench toes” and “apply touch to areas holding tension” scattered around the image] - #traumainformedfitness #personaltrainercertification #TIPT #movementismedicine #traumaeeucation #traumainformedpersonaltrainer #embodiedmovement #braineducation #personaltrainer #lcswc #nscacpt #maryland #wholepersonapproach #embodiment #somaticapproach #traumainformedpersonaltraining #postrraumaticgrowth #growthmindset #brainbasedpsychoeducation #traumainformedweightlifting

This is Everything! Repost from @theempoweredtherapist • Dear Therapists, I see you. Thank you for showing up for your clients as the stressors pile up. As the news unfolds. As so many co-existing traumas occur all around us. Thank you for holding space and being human. I see the ways you hold it together so others can fall apart. Thank you for sitting in it, for making room for it, for acknowledging everything that's going wrong. Thank you for also making room for other topics, for joy, for celebrating each of your clients' growth and process. Thank you for doing the work others say they don't know how we can do. Thank you for holding both hope and reality in your hands. Thank you for allowing your heart to ache and grow all at the same time. Thank you for existing for them while also existing for you. Thank you for acknowledging our shared humanity; thank you for allowing pain to be felt; thank you for being a place for people to express their fear. Dear therapists, please attend to your nervous systems. Please allow yourself time to disengage. Please give yourself permission to scroll a little less and consume more of what fills you up. Dear therapists, we're in this for the long haul, and our capacity can't just continue to be expanded. Dear therapists, you're experiencing these traumas, this fear, this activation right alongside your clients. We aren't simply our jobs, we are whole, breathing, feeling beings. Therapists, this shit is hard. Thank you for doing the whole damn thing. To all of the therapists who hold space, make room, sit in it, and are in their humanity right alongside their clients, I see you. — #healingjourney #ptsd #cptsd #cptsdawareness #neurobiologyoftrauma #trauma #traumahealing #partswork #dissociation #anxiety #depression #posttraumaticgrowth #resilience #selfcare #hope #growth #therapy #traumabonding #traumatherapy #traumainformed #somatics #coregulation #corebeliefs #dbtskills #emdrtherapy #brainspotting #eft #freedom #neuroscience #hopeignitedtraining
