✨ This weekend was pure Texas Hill Country magic! We hiked Plum Creek in Kyle, hit the fall festival in Uhland, made friends with local witches in New Braunfels, and conducted a very serious barbecue taste test. 🤠

🔮 Finding our people: Last week, we visited The Empress (@theempressnbtx), a beautiful magic shop in New Braunfels. We found treasures we’d been hunting for, a few things that demanded to come home with us, and an invitation to their open Sunday circle. Naturally, we came back!

The owner keeps a calendar of local events, pop-ups, and Sunday circles, giving the area’s pagan community a place to connect. After the shop faced some pitchfork-wielding villagers last year, the community rallied around it. It’s wonderful to find spaces where people can find their people. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area! 🖤

🍖 Now, for some small-town barbecue gossip.

For years, Original Black’s BBQ was the local favorite. Then a family rift sent Terry Black to Austin to start his own business. Now Terry Black’s has nine locations to Original Black’s four. And one of them? Right next door to Original Black’s in New Braunfels. SHARING A PARKING LOT, Y’ALL. 😂

Obviously, we had to investigate.

Last week, we tried Original Black’s. This week, Terry Black’s got its turn. We compared mac and cheese, pinto beans, and sliced brisket sandwiches.

Both are good, but I’m declaring Terry Black’s the winner! Cheesier mac, rounder barbecue sauce, and juicier brisket.

I know. Them’s fighting words in Texas. 😅

Join us this Sunday, October 11th for our next community drum circle!

We'll be gathering after Sunday Circle at 11:30am in the backyard of @theempressnbtx - and it's finally cooling off enough so we don't melt in the morning sunlight!

As always, our drum circles are Free and Open to Everyone, and this month is Halloween, so feel free to wear your costumes for added fun!

All skill levels are welcome, and we encourage bringing your own drums and percussion instruments from home, if you have some, to ensure we have enough instruments for everyone.

We look forward to drumming with y'all!

Yesterday at @theempressnbtx All Hallows market felt like a dream 🖤🕯️ Within one hour of opening half my table was empty and I was overwhelmed by the amount of love I felt. By the end of the day I was 3 pieces from a complete sell out. So thank you everyone who came out, bought anything, followed me, stopped for a chat, etc. 🥹 I had the most magical day. I’m so grateful to get to do this thing I love 🫶🏻✨ See you again soon!
