💭 Wow, this was such an amazing great first read for me to dabble into Fredrik Backman’s books and writing style! I was intrigued to finally be able to read a Fredrik Backman book and this book sure did not disappoint for the first read! His style is unique in a way that left me feeling content but also left me wanting to continue on in the story. Being enthralled in this book doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt about reading this book. It was a great palette cleanser between romances and thrillers that I typically read.

What an amazing second chance romance that show cases the battles and drama hat life throws at each person! Truly enjoyed this book overall.

What a thrill of a book that kept me hooked and engrossed from the beginning!! Eight strangers in a Los Angeles backpacking hostel that you don’t know what they’ll do to escape the past. This was my first John Marrs book and it left me on the edge of my seat wondering what happened. The twists were twisty and I never guessed any of the twists.

The Mistake is a psychological thriller that left me feeling the thrills as I was reading it. In this book everyone makes mistakes but you’re left wondering which one will be the deadly one. I literally read this book today in 3 hrs because I couldn’t put it down! 🤯 I was enthralled and engrossed with the storyline that I never figured out! This author makes you dislike all the characters for an array of different reasons. Nail biting & heart pounding are perfect ways to describe this storyline.

I’d highly recommend this novel for others to read! 😉

#AuthorAppreciation - #AlexandraPotter

I get my love of reading from my mum and sometimes she will pop round and nab a book from my shelf. She first grabbed Confessions of a forty something f##k up back in and absolutely loved it so each time a new one pops through my door I drop them with her and she devours them!

I asked her what she loved most about the books and she said, 'Alexandra Potters characters are so well constructed, and I recognised them in people that I know.'

She loves the books so much that she even reached out to the author on Instagram to say how much she enjoyed them (thank you @alexandrapotter for listening to what sounds like was her whole life story and being so nice to her, it really made her day!)

I was very much looking forward to sitting down and getting stuck into this book as I enjoyed the first one so much and I can tell you that it did not disappoint.

The book is funny, emotional, fast pasted and addictive. I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the different age range of characters and how beautifully they interact and would love a Cricket in my life.

The main character Nell is likeable and easy to identify with and her relationships with her friends, her family and Edward are believable in today’s world. I liked that she tried to find the positive in every situation, I have started to try to do this too!

I think we can all recognise parts of ourselves in this book, everything doesn’t just fall into place for Nell and her friends, and that is what real life is like.

I can also highly recommend One Good Thing by Alexander Potter as this is also highly enjoyable and follows the theme of multi-generational friendships and a dog. (@bookmadbarlow thing we need to read this one asap)

Book 30 of 2023 - 304 Pages
Contemporary Fiction

I read this book back in February and I absolutely loved it and so when I realised that I still hadn't posted my review I wondered why. Then I came to write my review and I remembered exactly why, I don't know how to put into words what I loved about this book I just know that I did!

So that is pretty much all I have for you, if your reading taste is similar to mine, you like the marmite books of booksta and you enjoyed books like Nightbitch and I'm a Fan then I think the chances are that you will probably like this one.

We’re halfway through the year already! I hope it’s been a great year for all of you so far and that your July is filled with fireworks 🎆, sunshine ☀️, and new books to read 📚. I love seeing what you’re reading and where you’re reading!

#MiddleGradeMarch

I love reading middlegrade to see what’s out there for my children to read and sometimes just to escape a little and read something a little more innocent.

This stack is a mixture of read books that I absolutely recommend and my tbr for this month!

📖 The Lost Whale - this is a tbr book and one I’m very excited for as I absolutely loved this authors previous book, The Last Bear.

📕 Pages & Co - This is possibly my favourite ever middlegrade book, it’s whimsical and just so delightful

📕 Children of the Quicksands - this is another of my read books and I always recommend this one, it’s so underrated!

📖 A Place to Hang the Moon - this is is tbr and borrowed from the lovely @youcantbeatagoodbook (which means it ticks off this months @bookshelfraiders pick)

📕 Fireborn 2 - this is an absolutely cracking series for those young ones who love action and adventure, it’s fun and fast paced.

📖 Amari 2 - this is another tbr, I read and loved book one so when the Waterstones hardback sale hit I grabbed book 2.

📖 The Hat Makers - this is my final tbr book, I picked it up last year while on a trip to Harrogate and haven’t got round to it (despite already buying book two 🙈).
