It was wonderful to hear Shamim share her remarkable journey, insights and experiences, brilliantly hosted by @melaniejrickey , and to see a room full of people come together for such thoughtful conversation, connection and community.

We went to Zante. And we liked it.

Though it’s really called Zakynthos and it’s so much more beautiful than I imagined it would be. Yes, even with all the teenagers on the loose in Laganas.

My incredibly chic girlfriend @ivona.acklam even taught me something that, as a fashion director, I should have known.

She dresses in Dolce, Ford and Lauren, but guess whose shorts she swears by? None of those. Nope. She only wears shorts by… @boden.

She says the cut down version of their bestselling trousers are the best ones out there.

And she was right.

I wrote about them over on @goodhousekeepinguk this week.

I’m a trouser girl, and now I’m a smart shorts girl. The ones here are my new favourite staple to wear everyday, not just on holiday.

And given we are now in full climate change hot weather UK times, that makes them very much Worth It.

And it also makes climate change so real, and just a bit scary.

Check your passport! Especially if yours is nearing the end of its run.

Mine runs out in late Autumn, but because it was issued slightly more than ten years ago I was turned away at the airport on Friday.

Brexit rule I knew nothing about. I was able to put all of my passport details into the airline I booked with. Nothing was flagged. I ran it by Chat - how stupid can you get? DON’T RUN ANYTHING BY CHAT.

When I get there my week’s holiday will be three days.

Don’t let this happen to you! And if I do save you from this giant waste of time, money, and quality time with a loved one, let me know. It’ll cheer me up. ♥️

Made up a new word - "enoughfluencer". An enoughfluencer is someone who celebrates the idea that they already have enough (even though it might not look like it to the Amandas/ad execs), and that maybe many more of us could share that happiness.

This piece for @gdnsaturday was inspired by my friend @not.needing.new Anna Kilpatrick, whose first book Not Needing New has just been published - it's full of tips and examples of finding joy in simplicity, slowing down, appreciating glimmers of happiness etc - and how to resist the lure of capitalistic messaging. It makes me very happy that she has such a big following, that there is a powerful antidote to the prevailing message of buy, buy, buy. I wrote it before war broke out in the Middle East, but it feels ever more relevant as the cost of living soars again.

I also spoke to other inspirational voices in the enoughosphere @patrickgrantism @lifebeforeplastic_ @madeby_annie @theenoughness (who's just launched an excellent newsletter on exactly this). Thanks for the wisdom.

A certain family member said to me the other day, "Why can't we just have a Range Rover?" Gonna leave this article lying around and await the new happiness.

1. Subtract before you add.⁠ The less you do, the more you make time for.⁠
2. Celebrate anything you complete.⁠ One gym session? Pat yourself on the back. That counts.⁠
3. Go analogue.⁠ Check in with yourself before you check your phone.⁠ @opalapp gives me seven distraction-free hours a day, and it’s 100% changed my life.⁠
4. Create one small moment of joy every day and obsess over it.⁠ Current obsession: high-vibe meditations on @kabbalahcentre app.⁠
5. Do the hard thing with heart, not resentment.⁠ Hard things help us grow. Avoiding them keeps us stuck.

Exactly what I did last night for our first ever live event with @staceyduguid and @gabyroslin at a fundraiser for the brilliant @olwynfoundation which supports grassroots charities that directly help women find their good enough, whether they are victims of domestic abuse, FGM @gmcendfgm or in mortal danger from oppressive regimes.

It was funny, it was serious, it was incredibly inspiring and fashion fabulous all in one! I am so grateful to have had a supportive audience who got into thinking about these questions and the infectious joy of Gaby Roslin, and the brilliantly funny honesty of Stacey Duguid.

Don't worry, I'm not that smug - I still feel closer to the addict's self-loathing (the addiction being to my phone). But in the last two months I have made some big new rules for myself around my phone use, and it has honestly been life-changing.

It's HARD, though! (Big Tech is clever!) I wrote about it for @thetimes and spoke to some wise people who have worked out how to stay connected but not addicted, and who are really seeing the benefits. @melaniejrickey

I was also hugely inspired by my @smartphonefreechildhood
WhatsApp group, so many of whom are really walking the walk and modelling a healthier relationship with tech to their children.
