In the early morning hours of Sat., Oct. 3rd, 2026, the Baldwin Fire Dept. was dispatched to a report of a house fire with people trapped. The first fire units to arrive on scene were met with heavy fire and smoke showing from a two-story private dwelling leading to the transmission of a working fire and a request for mutual aid. In addition, firefighters encountered three occupants hanging from the second-floor windows of the home – unable to exit through the front door of the home due to fire conditions. Nassau County Police Officers rescued one of the victims through a “one side” window by standing on a vehicle in the driveway while members of Baldwin Hose Co. No. 2 rescued the other two occupants via portable ladder on the “two side” of the residence. Firefighters went on to stretch three hand lines and put at least two of those hand lines into operation. Additional searches throughout the home were negative, two civilians and one firefighter were transported from the scene to area with non-life-threatening injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. #baldwinfd #k2mphotography #firstduefotog
