Fire News is saddened to hear about the passing of our dear friend New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC) Ex Chief Robert Holley. We send our deepest condolences to Chief Holley’s wife Lois and to his family. He will be missed by many. Please see below from the NYS Fire Chiefs. RIP our friend. 🙏🏻

NYSAFC mourns the loss of Past President Robert E. Holley, who passed away on October 4, 2026. Holley was a past chief of the East Quogue Fire Department in Suffolk County, where he served for more than 50 years.

A member of NYSAFC for more than five decades, he led the association as president from 2006-2007. In recent years, Bob and his wife, Lois, supported the association by volunteering at NYSAFC’s New York Fire Book Store during our Annual Conference & FIRE Expo.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Holley family, as well as to Bob’s colleagues in the Suffolk County fire service. The NYSAFC officers and staff join in honoring Bob’s legacy and his unwavering commitment to strengthening the emergency services and our organization.

A full tribute is forthcoming. Details on services are available here: https://bit.ly/3VOi0Ty by @thefirenews

JJ has been a friend to all of us at Fire News for many years. We truly hope that someone can be the hero he needs.
MEET JJ ❤️🚔🚒
For years, JJ answered the call. As a retired NYPD officer and an active 40 year volunteer firefighter, he has spent his life serving and helping others.
Now, JJ needs our help finding a living kidney donor.
We are sharing his story in the hope that it reaches the person who can save his life—his hero.
You do not have to be a donor to make a difference. Please follow, share this and future posts, tag someone who may help spread the word, and visit the links in our bio to learn more.
Help us find JJ’s hero. ❤️
