Searching for some rainbows... 🌈✨
There is a silent poetry in the swing of a heavy streamer, dancing through the cold depths. And then—the sudden, brutal flash of silver. A creature born of wild currents and painted with the colors of the storm. Holding one of these magnificent rainbow trout reminds me exactly why we chase the tug. It’s not just fishing; it’s a passion that runs deeper than the rivers we wade. 🎣❤️

Flies Of The Week: Carp Flies 🎣

Carp flies follow a slightly different logic from what you’d normally find in your trout box. Instead of imitating classic aquatic insects, they often imitate food such as bread or pellets, or use bright attractor patterns designed to catch the fish’s attention.

Which fly works best depends largely on what the carp are doing. If they’re cruising just below the surface, bread and biscuit patterns come into play. If they’re feeding deeper or showing little interest, weighted egg flies and bright attractor patterns can make all the difference.

In the photo, you can see five patterns from our selection, from top to bottom:

1. Egg Yarn Bread Fly
A floating bread imitation for sight fishing to carp cruising near the surface.

2. Blob Sunburst
A bright orange and gold attractor pattern for when it’s less about imitation and more about getting a reaction.

3. Egg Yarn Salmon Egg Fly
A weighted pattern that can be presented in front of a carp and allowed to sink as naturally as possible.

4. Disco Biscuit Tan
A dog biscuit or pellet imitation that can be fished either on the surface or just below it.

5. Fire Spot Egg Cheese Egg Fly
An eye-catching egg fly with a tungsten bead and fluorescent hot spot for some extra attraction.

In our latest blog post, we take a closer look at 10 groups of carp flies, when to fish each pattern and what to consider when it comes to presentation, leader and setup.

Meet The Team! 👋🏽🎣

This is Sebi, Co-Owner & Managing Director at Klejch Fly Fishing.

He’s been fly fishing for 20 years and is passionate about chasing a wide variety of species. During the trout season in Austria, you’ll most likely find him targeting large wild brown trout. In winter, nothing excites him more than pursuing the mighty huchen. During the hot ”dog days“ of summer, when trout deserve a well-earned break, he switches gears and hunts carp on the backwaters of the Danube.

His greatest passion, however, is tropical saltwater fly fishing. From tarpon and bonefish to the legendary permit, the challenge of fooling the most demanding fish on the flats is what keeps him coming back. The permit (often called the holy grail of saltwater fly fishing) has a special place in his heart. It’s the challenge of the difficult that fascinates him most.

One of his most memorable moments in fly fishing was while filming our first saltwater fly fishing movie, Casting Maya, which focuses on permit fishing. After six consecutive days without a single permit in the boat, everything came together on the very last afternoon, when he landed the first (and still the biggest) permit of his life.

For anyone just getting started, his advice is simple: Spend as much time on the water as you can. Fish a variety of waters, challenge yourself, and keep expanding both your horizon and your skills as an angler.

When he’s not on the water, you’ll find him enjoying life with his wife and kids, spending time in nature, and travelling to discover new places and fisheries.

Stop by the shop, say hello, and feel free to ask him about his favorite fishing stories, or share one of your own! 🙌🏽

Die Nymphe lief diesen Morgen super. Wir durften ein paar tolle Fische in unseren Händen halten, nur die Äschen ließen auf sich warten und das sollte sich leider auch nicht mehr ändern.
