Got a cultivar that stretches like crazy? Dry it back harder.

Liam Spenser (@theflyingliamur) of @aroya.io on the Growers MBA podcast with @elliott_greenthumbdepot:

Steering generative means bigger, deeper drybacks and a higher substrate EC. As water leaves the coco, oxygen fills the pore space, and the plant answers with more bud sites, more nodes, less leaf and less stem, and tighter internode spacing. Not every cultivar can take an aggressive dryback, so the goal is to stimulate the plant, not stress it.

Disclaimer, this is for crop steering in coco. Rockwool has much different constraints.

Same first irrigation, two different plants. It comes down to shot size.

Elliott Gorfain (@elliott_greenthumbdepot) with Liam Spenser (@theflyingliamur) of @aroya.io:

Your P1 is your first irrigation of the day. It takes the substrate from peak dryback back to field capacity, plus runoff. Steering generative, Liam runs 4 to 5 shots at 6 to 8%, every 30 minutes. Steering vegetative, 9 shots at 3%, every 15 minutes. That’s 27%: refill a 22% dryback and the other 5% goes straight to drain, which keeps your EC down.

Save this for the next time you program your irrigation controller.

🔥 VOP Panel Series 2025 | FUELING THE FLAVOR: Dry & Cure Science is dropping! 🔥

You can ruin everything you did in cultivation during the post-production process. Drying and curing is about preserving flavor, smokability, and smoothness.

🗓️ Drop Date: 1/16/26
📝 Topic: Fueling the Flavor, Dry & Cure Science
🎙️ Hosted by: @voiceoftheplant

This panel focuses on reframing dry and cure as a measurable, repeatable, and accountable continuation of cultivation, not just a handoff. We examine how flavor is preserved or lost and why uniformity in your dry room is crucial.

Key Panel Takeaways:
You must know your dry room’s conditions: hot, dry, or low-circulation areas before you can know your genetic potential.
Avoid stagnant areas in your dry room, especially for large buds.
Circulation should homogenize the room rather than blow directly onto the plant.
🎤 Panelists:
Joe Cimino (@goodgrns | @yourhighness_ma)
Liam Spencer (@theflyingliamur | @aroya.io)
Kevin Crouch (@madtrichome | @powrhouse.cali)
JJ Yang (@grovebags_)
🎛️ Moderator: Sergio Picazo (@sergio_thecustodian)

Don’t miss this deep dive into water activity vs. moisture content, controlled ramping, and designing systems that protect your flavor and shelf stability!

If you’re reading this caption proceed with caution because I’m going to speak on some of the darkness that we’ve all born witness to this year. The stuff that’s so morbid that we have collectively stopped bringing it up in social settings.
.
This year we all realized that there are truly no well intentioned and responsible adults in the room. America has become more of a dumpster fire than we ever thought was possible. The most powerful people in our country are actual horror movie level supervillains. We now know without a doubt that child grooming and sex trafficking are written into the history of every industry in America, commonplace and casual as eggs for breakfast. The systems designed to serve us are incentivized to harm us. Non existent customer service, unbelievable wait times for medical care, cost of living that makes no sense, monopolization, corporatocracy, zero leverage as a customer and affordable food is straight up poisonous.
.
We are all overwhelmed and desensitized
.
I don’t share this to be depressing, these are hard truths that we’re all keenly aware of.
.
BUT and this is a big but. When light reveals truth people wake the fuck up. And from my perspective people really are waking up.
.
When a child learns that his or her parents are fallible and won’t be able to protect them forever they begin to take responsibility for their own lives.
.
Now is the time to step up for yourself and the people in your community.
Now is the time to start protecting your brain from harmful information streams that want to keep you mindlessly consuming.
Now is the time to learn how to use food, light, hydration and movement to keep yourself healthy and not dependent on a broken healthcare system.
Now is the time to rewrite patterns of generational trauma.
Now is the time to step up as a neighbor and friend and show your tribe that we are far from alone and kindness is still abundant.
Power attracts some of the worst of our species but the vast majority of people in this world are GOOD and as cliche as it sounds, I honestly believe that love will win. I also believe that disclosing and calling out evil is a step in the direction of love winning.
