Cherry cherry embroidery 🍒🌹❣️🥀👠💋🎀 for my darling @thegrateful_thread for our embroidery swap! 🌟Winnie appreciation post 🌟 Winnie and I met on tumblr when we were about 13 years old. In between reblogging 🌸🔮🎀🩰 pastel vintage aesthetic photos 💄🌷🍄🪷 we would chit chat almost every day, along with a lovely coven of gals in countries all around the world. Winnie and I bonded over our shared love of embroidery as adults, and for the first time ever she flew all the way from New York to London and we got to meet irl and make our teenage dreams come true. 13 year old Winnie and Courtney would have imploded with joy if they knew how lovely and special it was finally meet and chat like no time had passed at all 💜 I made Winnie this cherry embroidery with a jade green ribbon (both our middle names are Jade) and she surprised me with an absolutely beautiful thread painted cherry blossom (completely by coincidence🌸🍒). Winnie is such a kindhearted, beautiful, talented, intelligent, hilarious and generous soul, doing such amazing work in harm reduction in the US. I’m so proud of the incredible adult she’s become and so grateful we got to grow up together despite the 5500km distance💜🎀 ilysm!!!! I highly recommend looking at her incredible embroidery @thegrateful_thread 🪡 #embroidery #embroiderydesign #cherryembroidery #chronicallyillartist #disabledartist #handembroidery #handembroidered #handembroiderywork #cherryart #dmcembroidery #dmcthreads #threadpainting #coquette #coquetteart

Follow @thegrateful_thread for more✨ . . . @thegrateful_thread Happy Summer everyone! It was so nice to get back into embroidery with this cast-on stitch Animal Crossing leaf. I haven't experimented too much with 3D stitching so this was a super fun project to tackle, and definitely makes me excited to try more techniques in the future. Plus, I got to try the ~Spotify code~ trend which...has like a 50/50 hit rate unfortunately but it plays the 6AM Animal Crossing Lo-Fi theme. This was a gift for my roommate - and it's making me want to return to my dusty island and give Animal Crossing another go. I had an enormous amount of fun making this and it's definitely been a good transition back into embroidering my other projects. This summer is going to be busy, busy but once more, I appreciate that embroidery is something that is always patient and waiting for me to return to it, and in the process, return to myself. It's been a crazy ridiculous semester and I'm glad to say things have been on the up & up. Hope to be delivering more updates for you all soon! And for all you Animal Crossing fans, what's your island named? Mine is Meliora! (It means "ever better" in Latin and I absolutely stole it from University of Rochester's motto. I have a childhood bedroom collage made up of all the random things I collected through high school which included a flood of college admissions material, so I upcycled all of the inspiring and pretty parts from it to cope with the stress I'd applying to college. Right above my headboard is the 'Meliora' logo I cut out. Maybe I'll share the collage with you all some day!) . . . #embroiderydesign #embroidery #embroideryart #needlepainting #embroideryfloss #sewing #artistsoninstagram #art #artist #handmade #handembroidery #embroideryhoop #embroidered #textileart #fiberart #tangledupinfloss #dmcthreads #dmcembroidery #dmcfloss #modernembroidery #broderie #hoopartembroidery #artisan #embroiderylove #fuckyeahembroidery #embroideryartist #stitchersofinstagram #damngoodstitch #nicegirlsneedleclub #embroiderycreativity

By @thegrateful_thread ・・・ There's always this period right before it all "comes together" where everything looks like an absolute mess because you're struggling with all the different tones that haven't been blended right yet or all the shades and forms that haven't been fully fleshed out yet. It's so hard to see what you're doing or to have faith in where you're going, and sure, sometimes it doesn't work out exactly, but often times you find that it just means you aren't "there" yet. It's like you're battling your way into the eye of hurricane and never sure where that moment of accomplishment will lay. It also doesn't help that often, that's what a lot of the creative process feels like - where you just absolutely cannot make any sense of what you're doing but you know you gotta get through anyways to realize your vision. I've been feeling that a lot with this piece (and my grad school career) honestly. I know all this work will be for something, but you can never see it right in the midst of it. I tell myself that everything in its creation stages will be a little messy, uneven, and chaotic. So whether today that's your hoop or yourself, just reminding you that your art (and yourself!) are well worth the work ❤ . . . #embroiderydesign #embroidery #embroideryart #needlepainting #embroideryfloss #sewing #artistsoninstagram #art #artist #handmade #handembroidery #embroideryhoop #embroidered #textileart #fiberart #tangledupinfloss #dmcthreads #dmcembroidery #dmcfloss #modernembroidery #broderie #hoopartembroidery #artisan #embroiderylove #fuckyeahembroidery #embroideryartist #stitchersofinstagram #nicegirlsneedleclub #marvel
