Friday was a lot. Surgery itself went well, but the pain afterward was intense. I woke up in PACU in a lot of pain and honestly just cried for the first few hours even with medication u til they got the right regimen. Once they were able to get my pain better managed, I settled around a 4–5/10. Moving is still really tough, but when I’m sitting and supported, it’s much more manageable. I’m feeling thankful and hopeful. Thank you @letlovegrow_lv for dropping off the wedge pillow, it has been a lifesaver!

Since then, I did have to take a trip to the ER today to rule out a blood clot because I started experiencing shortness of breath. Thankfully, no clot was found on the CT! We did have to do the contrast allergy prep because of my allergic reaction to the contrast from the MRI back in August. But we also don’t have a clear conclusion on what is causing the pain and shortness of breath. They believe there’s some trapped air in my rib cage area contributing to the pain and breathing discomfort. For now, I’m staying propped up and resting, since lying flat makes it worse.

This experience has been humbling, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people who have shown up for me and my family. Thank you to everyone who has checked in, helped, and supported us. And a special thank you to @acking11 for coming over last minute today to toddler-sit even with a new baby of her own. I truly don’t know what I’d do without friends like this. Thank you so so so much to all of the friends who have dropped off meals, sent gift cards and offered to take our kiddo on play dates! We are forever grateful for you!

Oct 20, I felt a sudden urge to get every piece of art I had made in two years
And throw it on the floor haphazardly.
The rays of sunlight were healing.
I couldn’t believe I had made this much.
A person who considering writing and baking my artist gifts.
And they are.
But here was more.
And serving a different need and a different purpose.
One that requires no order, no reason, no rules.
It’s just what comes out.
I can change it to what I want.
If I don’t like it, I can cut it up.
If I want to scream, I can use red.
If I want to cry, I can use blue.
If I’m feeling joy, hello yellow.
Sometimes they all bled together.
But the medicine was in the creating.
No style.
No art degree.
No studying.
Just whatever I felt like.
And I used to think it was a waste.
But when I brought the art out,
I could see the waste would be in NOT creating.

Yesterday was such a dream @itsgrieftastic ✨ and a massive thank you to @grant__garry for bringing such a special group together for one VERY exciting project.

To be able to finally meet SO many incredible people in person—many of which I’ve known for at least a couple of years now virtually—was the biggest gift 🥹
