Big things are happening with The Group! And apparently that includes me finally shaving off my mustache after having it since 2020! I’ve always believed that one of the greatest things we can do in life is find our purpose and use it to make an impact on others. We live in a world where technology and AI are changing everything, but I believe genuine human connection will become more valuable than ever. We all want to be seen, heard, understood, and supported. That’s why I created The Group. My philosophy has always been simple. Make The Group whatever you need it to be for you. Find friendships, opportunities, inspiration, or simply a place to belong. But while you’re here, find a way to make a difference in someone else’s life too. You never know how much your kindness, encouragement, or belief in someone can change their world. I’m still learning and growing every day, but one thing I believe more than ever is that success isn’t measured by what we accumulate, but by the lives we impact. The Group was never about me. This feels like one of those moments that captures exactly what The Group and GROUPx Talks are supposed to be. The Group and GROUPx Talks are special because I never want someone to get up there and give a presentation. I want you to be authentic. Speak from a place of passion. Tell your story. Because when you speak your truth, people connect with you. @freddysphilosophy is in his mid 20s, but he’s an old soul. He has a passion for telling people’s stories through video and interviews, and when he spoke, you could feel how much he genuinely loves what he does. But what happened next is what The Group is all about. Another amazing member of our community, @elleelleonthego , has been collecting supplies and donations to help those affected by the devastating natural disaster in Nepal. After hearing Freddy speak and seeing something special in him, she surprised him with a scholarship to join the trip and help tell the stories of the people they’ll be serving. A lot of us got emotional watching that moment happen. Because THIS is community. We inspire each other. We support each other. We show kindness. And sometimes, simply having the courage to tell your story creates an opportunity to make an impact you never saw coming. After more than three years of watching this community grow, the mission has never been clearer to me. Make an impact on each other. Show up for each other. And when people need us, show up for them too. That’s The Group.

I’ve had a lot of intentional coffee meetups this week and it’s funny how every week there seems to be a theme. This week it was impact. I think sometimes we forget the impact we have on other people. Something you said might have made someone laugh when they were having a really shitty day. A little support might have been exactly what someone needed to keep going. An idea you shared might have made someone look at their business, their relationship or even their life differently. Sometimes it’s literally just a smile. The thing is, you never really know what someone else is going through. And you probably won’t ever know how much some small thing you did meant to them. We all have different stories. Different backgrounds. Different struggles. But we all have the ability to make someone else’s day a little better. So that’s what I’m taking into the rest of this week. Be the light when someone is going through darkness. Be kind. Support people. Encourage people. Smile at people. Make an impact. You never know how far that one little moment might carry. Setup coffee with me and let’s continue to make an impact on each other.

This episode of Heart of the Matter is about what happens when you refuse to let where you started determine where you finish. Buddy Rushing @buddyrushing grew up poor, on welfare and food stamps, but somehow beat the odds to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, become a Marine officer and serve multiple deployments overseas. But this story is just as much about Kimberly @realworldrushings . They talk about their first real estate investment, Buddy deploying while Kimberly learned the business as she went, and the decision to eventually leave the military and bet on themselves. That bet became White Feather Investments and a mission much bigger than building wealth for their own family. Today, they help veterans, first responders and others learn how to create financial freedom, while continuing to evolve as entrepreneurs and now teaching people how to practically use AI in business and everyday life. I just joined a connection first networking group that has some amazing hyper focused sub groups. One of those is for veterans and meets in Oceanside. If you’re seeing this and are a vet or know one in OC or San Diego county please share. I’ll be speaking on Wednesday at this one and potentially heading up one for OC! I have already learned of at least 3 opportunities to more powerfully use my VA benefits! **side note - there’s space for veteran spouses as well!!!

The 5 Minute Features we do at each chapter have honestly become one of my favorite parts of The Group. Watching two people at each chapter get up in front of the community and tell their story has been pretty amazing. Some people are comfortable speaking. Some are nervous. Some have never done anything like it before. But that’s the point. This isn’t a presentation. You don’t need a PowerPoint. You don’t need to sell anything. You don’t need to be a professional speaker. You just need to be you. It’s five minutes to tell your story, be vulnerable, step outside your comfort zone and connect with the people around you. I’ve watched people grow from doing this. I’ve watched the community rally around them. I’ve watched people in the audience hear something they needed to hear that day. You get support, but you also give support. You inspire people and you leave inspired yourself. So many people have told me, “This is like a mini TEDx Talk.” So I decided it needed a name. GROUPx Talks Five minutes. Your story. Our community. But since The Group has always belonged to the community, I want you guys to help choose the logo. Look through the logos and VOTE for your favorite in the comments. Comment 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 below. Whichever one the community chooses becomes the new GROUPx Talks logo.
