It has taken me freaking ever.

It’s not clean.

But I got it.

It was a drama-Free practice today.

*gasp*

So here’s a new deep thought.
This song makes me think of handstands.
Is that a problem?

In the interest of full transparency, I present to you…my practice today.

I grunted. I groaned. I whined about my lack of sleep. But I did the thing.

I also let the drama out because drama is like a fart. Better out than in.

That’s a Lori original right there. You’re welcome.

But seriously.

Free hour voice. Grunt and groan when you need. Sing with your windows down. Tell the people around you that love them.

Free the drama.

Don’t be a silent fart.

What if I started sharing more of the things I intentionally crop out.

Does that make me more real?
Or does it make this shape more scary?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Also. Pray for my coaches. 🤣

Today, I had a crowd watching me.

Okay. It was a family cheering and clapping. But it scared me.

I don’t nail it on canes every time I hop up. I don’t even nail it half the time. And suddenly, I had an audience for whatever happened next.

It’s easy to want to be seen when things are going well. Letting people watch while I’m still figuring it out asks more of me.

Because falling is one thing. Being seen falling brings all my stories along. What will they think? Will I look ridiculous? Should I even be doing this?

Every time I let myself be seen trying anyway, those stories lose a little power. And maybe someone watching gets permission to try something they’re afraid of, too.

What would become possible if an awkward attempt wasn’t your cue to leave? If you stayed long enough to discover that you can fall, be seen, and still belong?

There’s freedom in that. I’m finding it every time I hop back up.

Will you join me? Show up before you have something impressive to show. Let people see you learning. Then keep showing up.

The world could use more people willing to try while they’re still figuring out how.

I have a temper. So now you know. 😂

Engaging in regular physical challenge keeps it on in check.

You’re welcome.

If you’re a fellow “I’m frustrated by the humans around me” clubber and want a way to direct your energy towards something playful and challenging, let’s chat. It might just keep you out of jail. 😂

So many of my students want to break up with the wall. What if the goal became learning how to use it to get where you want to go?

I’m working toward a freestanding one armed handstand. Right now, the wall gives me room to figure out things I can’t yet do without it. That’s progress, too.

Every practice involves the wall in some way. Having bigger goals doesn’t mean I’ve outgrown his support.

Paul the Wall has always been there for me. Why does he get such a bad rap?

It’s important to know where your skills lie. I, for example, am not skilled at rest. But I am self aware. Does that count as progress? Asking for a friend.

How do you spend your rest days?

If you’ve asked why she didn’t tell you sooner, now you know.

Speaking up shouldn’t mean putting our character on trial. Our clothes, our drinking, and our past is not consent.

The accused deserves due process. We deserve to be heard without being shamed.

We are all Jane Doe until it’s safe to put our names to our stories.

We can do better.
We must do better.

The most common thing missing from people’s practice isn’t discipline. It’s not strength. It’s not a lack of trying.

The most common thing that is missing is ease. Relaxing into the shape and having fun with it.

If you’ve been practicing drill after drill but can’t remember the last time you smiled. It’s worth asking yourself.

How can you find ease and enjoyment again? Because without that, is it even worth it?

I have one spot opening for coaching at the end of this month for either in-person or virtual. DM me if you’re ready to make this fun again.

How many days do we have left until summer? Asking for a friend.
