A beautiful fall day in our hand-processed, hand-dyed, handspun vests 🍂❤️🌞
I saw so many beautiful versions of the Homecoming Quilt Vest by @katrynseeburger and we decided it was the perfect use of a Shetland fleece @thehazelwitchknits and I got earlier this year 🫶🏻
Beatriz's open farm day (@fibreandforge ) was cozy and magical ✨🐑 we got to meet so many of her sweet critters, drink fresh pressed apple juice, listen to love music, grab some wool goodies and pumpkins too!!

don’t be afraid of people giving you strange looks, it’s just because they don’t understand the vibe 🥱

i made this hat years ago, it’s just a normal toque with a leaf sewn on but it serves a very specific purpose in my wardrobe and that is AUTUMN WHIMSY!

Hope your weekend is wonderful and cozy! 🎃

Truthfully I can’t believe it’s already this time…! 🧑‍🎄

I’ll be playing Santa nonstop for the next month and a bit getting tons of advent calendars made and sent out. If you’re hoping to snag one of your own (whether it’s crystals, candles, or wool), here’s what you need to know!

The listings will be live on my website this week to preview, but will be marked out of stock until Friday, October 16th at 11am PST when you’ll be able to snag one for yourself!

It is my FIFTH year doing advent calendars & I really think this might be the best year yet 🥺💛

any questions?? Let me know how I can help!

CHECK IT OUT!!

I managed to snag some Raspberry Thicket dyed on a tweedy Polwarth blend from my lovely friend @thehazelwitchknits, along with some of her dyed BFL locks, and spun them all up together into this funky little textured skein.

Never going to get over all the little curls poking out everywhere… The last photo in the carousel is Imogen’s so you guys can see what the fiber looked like before I got my hands on it.

So freaking cuteeee

“Fertile Earth” on Polwarth Tweed by Imogen @thehazelwitchknits

Layers of mustard, walnut, coffee, russet and tan work so beautifully with each other to create this haunting colourway; and the tweed bits add another layer of dimension. It’s just gorgeous!

Fortunately I also have a braid of this same Polwarth Tweed base in “Raspberry Thicket”, and one more braid of Fertile Earth. Imogen also creates beautiful bees wax rolled candles (join her monthly candle club!), mystery batts and crystals (charged with magic!). You can find her magical offerings at https://www.thehazelwitch.net, and read her blog which tells of her inspiration at https://www.thehazelwitch.net/blog.

This spun up to 208 yards (100 grams) before soaking. I can’t wait to see the Polwarth poof once it’s dried!

Photo credit to Imogen O”Neal on slides 7&8. My wonderful Niddy Noddy that I can’t live without) was hand turned by Ed Pretty - he makes such wonderful tools including spindles and yard winders. His website is https://www.spinningpretty.ca.

Remember those incredible batts from my sweet angel friend @thehazelwitchknits ? Well… they became THIS.

I spun all of Imogen’s batts into one single, then paired them with Ebony @haunuiwool for the second ply. I genuinely think this is the most beautiful yarn I’ve ever spun. I cannot stop staring at it.

The Haunui brought so much depth to the finished yarn while letting all of those little flecks from the batts shine through. Every skein feels like it has something new to discover.

tbh there was one tiny disaster 😅

I underestimated how much Haunui I’d need and ran out before I could finish plying all of my singles. Rather than paying international shipping for another braid, I supplemented the last bit with a mocha Merino that looked close enough…

It was, in fact… not close enough 😂

If you look closely, you can probably spot the section where the brown shifts. Thankfully it’s only about a third of one skein, so I’ll wind that portion into its own cake and use it for my gauge swatch—or save it for cuffs or the hem if I need it.

Even with that little hiccup, I’m completely obsessed. I ended up with about 1,000 yards of a heavy worsted/bulky weight, and I think it’s destined to become a top-down raglan that I’ll mostly make up as I go. I’m crossing my fingers there’s enough left over to pick up a turtleneck at the end.

I’ll definitely keep sharing updates because Imogen’s gorgeous batts—and the yarn they became—deserve all the love in the world 🖤

Ninth spin of the Tour De Fleece!

The Yarn: 192 meters / 210 yards - 50g / 1.7oz - traditional 3ply (Melly hates chain plying!!), spun with continuous backwards on my Majacraft Suzie with the high speed pulley.

Fibre: “Neck Wool Extravaganza” hand processed batt from @thehazelwitchknits - 95% Daisy neck wool from @foxfarmhomestead , hand dyed with indigo, 5% sari silk and bonus 5% very stubborn vm (she legit wrote that last one on the tag 😂)

The Spin: This sweet little batt was such a treat! This was probably the most connected I felt to the farm yet in this years tour, mostly because that vm was no joke! But the whole time I just pictured the puffy head/neck of Daisy sticking out of the coat that was keeping the rest of her wool pristine, and how these chonker sheep get so messy as they eat (as they should!) and how glad I was that the messy bits got used and in this case, transformed with Imogen’s magic 🪄 This skein is also suuuuper soft so there’s that too; its 100% becoming a touque if I get brave enough to knit with fingering weight… but I’ll probably just send it to @songbirdhandmade and make her do it 🙌🏻✨

800g out of my 1kg goal! WHOOOOP! #stashdashers #dashelsroadtrip #tourdefleece
