STAINED GLASS GOWN - SPRING ‘24: THE WRIGHT LOOK @wrighttaliesin
“Paper Bodies” look 4 by @katxemily The corset was created with recycled abaca and muslin, then pressed and dried to resemble fabric. It was then painted with watercolors and embedded with gold wire to resemble colored windows. “I created this piece in tribute to the prevalence of stained glass in Frank Lloyd Wright’s most notable houses. The skirt is made from thrifted and excess fabric.”

THE PAPER DRESS - @thevaultuwmadison SPRING ‘24: THE WRIGHT LOOK (in partnership with @wrighttaliesin)

📌- This look was created with recycled abaca and muslin, then pressed and sewn to resemble fabric. It was created as a tribute to the both influence of origami and the process of paper making and its manifestations in several of Frank Lloyd Wright’s works. It was designed and made over the course of several months, used over three pounds of muslin and took over 200 hours.

To me, the delicacy this fabric embodies while itself being very strong was one of the coolest aspects of discovering such a unique way to make sustainable material. So much energy and dedication was poured into this piece, and I had the absolute best time taking on its challenges. As one of my last looks of these shows, it was definitely a special one.

And of course a huge thanks to The Vault and everything it’s given me these past few years; I won’t forget this one. 🖇️❤️‍🔥
