Got a chance to go out on the course with @fern_pga at @thelakescc. 🏌️‍♂️ We had remarkably similar games except for shot distance, accuracy, and consistency. Seriously though, what a cool experience! Seeing high-level shots like that was both humbling and motivating. I cannot wait to get out there again. ⛳️

Eleven months ago I had many firsts at @thelakescc:

⛳️ 1st time playing at a private club
👕 1st time being told my shirt needed to be tucked in
🐥 1st BIRDIE ever

So it was such a treat to head back to join @fern_pga for his hole-in-one challenge (spoiler alert: I did not get a HIO). The course looked even better than I remembered. Gorgeous and fun. Plus, this time I only lost 3 balls instead of twelve.

Thanks again and look forward to going back again!

P.S. Pro vs beginner shot challenge reel coming soon.

I can’t believe it was just over 6 months ago I got my first birdie ever. 🐦

It was at @thelakescc Palm hole #6. Hit one of my better drives 🏌️‍♂️ then a decent approach shot, and chipped it on the green from a respectable distance for maybe the first time ever. Then the putt...I hit it WAY too hard. 🚀 It flew across the green and CLINK, smacks the pin ⛳️ flat on and drops in. Woo hoo! I was happy to get par! Then I go enter my score on the app and it shows me the hole is a par 5. What?! 🤯

No way would I have made that putt thinking it was a birdie putt.

Everyone thinks summer in the desert means things slow down. The truth? Just like the weather... it’s only getting hotter. ☀️

Today was one of those days that reminds me why I love this industry.

This morning, our ops manager and GM joined fellow club managers at The Lakes CC for a The Golden State Chapter of CMAA LAN education session, where we explored the often underutilized value of member photos as a tool to elevate the member experience. We also toured their beautifully renovated clubhouse. Simply put... wow. An incredible transformation that not only enhances the member experience but also improves functionality for the staff. That’s the kind of renovation every club should aspire to.

Meanwhile, back at ODONNELL GOLF CLUB, our clubhouse was hosting the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. Led by our own Tempe Essell, who serves as President of the local American Red Cross, firefighters and police officers from across Palm Springs came together to donate blood for our community. They dedicate their lives to protecting us every day, and today they literally gave a part of themselves. What an inspiring sight.

As if that wasn’t enough, our Director of Golf, Blake Drabik, PGA, welcomed a group of ACE players from First Tee to experience O’Donnell Golf Club. Watching some of the Coachella Valley’s young golfers play one of the region’s most historic courses was a fitting reminder that the future of the game is bright.

Three completely different events. One shared purpose: building stronger clubs, stronger communities, and stronger futures.

What. A. Day.
