Melbourne mornings hit differently.

@lawganised.kath and @lawganised.selinatattis swapped their usual desks for @thegoodaxe yesterday and caught up in person with @lawganised.erinlaracy, the Melbourne-based member of our team. Being in the same room doesn’t happen often for us, so we made the most of it.

A big part of the morning was catching up with @iolanthegabrie, who owns The Good Axe. It’s always a pleasure to spend time with Iolanthe, and working from her space for the morning made it even better. If you’re after somewhere to work for the day in Melbourne, we can’t recommend it enough.

Thank you for having us, Iolanthe!

JOIN THE GUILD: Here’s our co-founder Iolanthe Gabrie fresh from the #communitas26 stage reflecting on the role the Guild plays for members. We seek to reconnect with our purpose as lawyers, barristers and judges. And to move Australia forward by supporting the law to change and grow with our society. Applications to become a Guildmasters close at the end of July. It’s not for everyone; it may well be for you. We have two periods to apply for membership per annum, as our high-trust environment deserves the respect of considered growth. Learn more: LexNova.com.au #altlaw #newlaw

Two days as a fortune teller at LawFest. Sixty readings. Zero bad fortunes. But the real magic was the conversations — from Māori AI sovereignty to why the original guilds failed. #LawFest #LexNovaGuild #AIinLaw #legalinnovation

It’s Alive!!!! We launched LNXchange today. The app that powers the Lex Nova Guild. It was a mammoth effort. I couldn’t be happier with hitting that milestone going into LawFest in Auckland tomorrow. I foresee good fortune ahead for Kiwi and Aussie lawyers alike. #lexnovaguild #lawyerslife⚖️ #nzlawyers #newlaw

IT’S MAKING LAWYERS CROOK: If you’ve not listened to @ckmcnaughty’s #podcast with #iolanthegabrie on #RealAmbition yet, here’s your community announcement to do so. They discuss the real reason that lawyers - Principals, particularly - lie awake at night is to do with the #business and culture of law. Not the law itself. Does this resonate with you, too?

AI SLOP - A HIERARCHY OF ETHICS FOR LAWYERS. If your marketing is visibly AI-generated, clients don’t read it as “efficient.” They read it as “careless.” My new post makes the case that using AI for caricatures, fake headshots, and generic thought-leadership isn’t just a little tacky —it signals low rigour in a profession that relies on trust. Read on, feel the feels and begin to think about how you can meaningfully use AI in your business development. https://bit.ly/4r6aeiy #rubyassembly #socialmedia #businessdevelopment #newlawyers

LAWYERS MISTKE THEIR VALUE: In the first cab off the #RealAmbition #podcast rank for 2026 is an outrageously challenging conversation with @ckmcnaughty of @fullyinnovativeluxurylawyering fame and @peopleinlegal. Chantal is a rare voice: part academic philosophy, part futurist, all flavor. She and Iolanthe discuss the value a client looks for in a lawyer.. and how that can be quite a surprise to those in ‘the profession’. Listen wherever you find smart, gorgeous podcasts.
