October marks Dwarfism Awareness Month, so naturally I thought I’d start with the REALLY important facts about Arlo…

Because awareness isn’t just about knowing the word Achondroplasia. It’s about seeing the child first. Challenging assumptions. Making space. Asking questions respectfully. And making sure children like Arlo grow up in a world where difference isn’t something they have to worry about. 🥹

The world isn’t made or accessible enough for people with differences. But we can do our job as parents to make it easier. Have those conversations around how being different is cool, teach our children that kindness is the most important quality. 🫂

And honestly, if you’ve been here a while, you’ll know that Arlo has taught us far more about life than any awareness campaign ever could.

So, welcome to Dwarfism Awareness Month.

Expect more facts, more real life, probably more dancing… and quite possibly more ice cream. 😆

Your ritual begins long before you even step into this space.

Every detail is created with so much love and intention, from the candles that are lit to the oils that are chosen, each element woven together to create a space where you are welcome to arrive exactly as you are.

I pour my whole heart into these offerings and it’s the greatest honour to tend to you in this way. I can’t wait to welcome you here soon.

My love, your body is not simply a place you live. It’s the sacred place you were entrusted to tend.

I’ve always believed that the divine lives within us. And the older I get the more I allow that truth to shape the way I care for myself.

If I believe the divine dwells within me, then this body cannot be anything less than holy. How differently might I touch it? Feed it? Speak to it? Rest it? How gently might I move through the world if I remembered that every act of care was an act of devotion?

I now realise that prayer isn’t reaching towards something outside of myself. Prayer begins the moment we remember that we have been entrusted with a holy place, and choose to tend to it with reverence.
