My solo show ‘there are people who belong to the sea’ is open at @thelightboxwoking until 3 Jan 2027 🌊💖

Feeling very very grateful to have had this opportunity after winning the @ingramcollectionuk prize and it was so special to be able to celebrate with everyone who came to see the show for its first day of being open 💖

Thank you to my relatives Baye Boly, Baye Fall, Patihe, to Laura, @cecilylj, @pinece, @bessiebang, @psi.coach.sof who generously spoke to me through WhatsApp voice notes and whose words inspired the work for the show.

And lastly, thank you to @peterhall847, @jobaringart, Alison and Max whose work behind the scenes made all the moving parts of the show possible!

From world-famous writers and legendary musicians to talented artists and thriving creative communities, Surrey is a county bursting with inspiration - and we can't wait to celebrate it on @surreydayuk 2027. 💚

Taking place on Saturday May 8, next year's celebrations will embrace the theme ‘Inspirational Surrey’, shining a spotlight on the creativity, talent and inspiration found across our county. 📚🎶🎨

Now in its ninth year, Surrey Day is a collaboration between @visitsurrey, @bbcinsurrey and @surrey_lieutenancy, bringing residents, businesses, attractions and communities together to celebrate the people, places and stories that make our county special. 🌳

💚 Be part of the celebrations! Whether you're a local business, attraction, artist, performer or community group, we'd love you to get involved by hosting an event, activity or celebration inspired by our Surrey Day theme.

💚 What inspires you about Surrey? From favourite places and remarkable people to personal stories and creative talents, share what makes Surrey special to you and help us bring ‘Inspirational Surrey’ to life.

My solo show ‘there are people who belong to the sea’ opens next week at @thelightboxwoking 🌊💙

So excited (and nervous!) to share this new body of work. Many of the paintings were inspired by interviews over WhatsApp voice memos with family, friends and strangers all connected by their love of the sea, some through leisure, some through their livelihoods 🎣🏄‍♀️🏊

We will be having an opening from 2-4pm next Saturday 10 October and would love to see familiar faces there ✨

Thank you to my fav photographer @obtikare for capturing the last days in the studio in the run up to the show 💖

Thank you to the @ingramcollectionuk for this amazing opportunity!
