Welllll, wasn’t this just another lovely experience, with a delightful shopkeeper, at another amazing shop! THANK YOU, @theloreok for agreeing to put up @ok_spsp’s poster (& give out the promotional bookmarks!!) for our Evening with @annelamott event Nov 5. WARNING: THIS BOOKSHOP ALSO SELLS HOMESPUN YARN (which obviously meant I had to buy some 🤣). They also create their own Zine which features, in part, a calendar w approx 1M opportunities to learn & grow & CREATE. Community builders here! 😍 Hope y’all can make it to AL in OKC Nov 5…but if that’s too far north for ya - come here instead, you’ll be better for it (& if you’re a fiber artist, quite likely a little poorer too 🤣). REMEMBER: Link in bio for more info & tickets to our event supporting the work of supporting single parents who are full time students getting their Associate’s or Bachelor’s degrees! 📚P.S. Almost forgot - they have a free craft supplies section!!! Next time I’m coming with things to donate. Lord knows, since the kids all moved FAR AWAY, the craft closet really isn’t getting nearly as much use!

🤔📘 How many books have been banned in US public schools in the last year?

📰🗞️ According to the Associated Press, the shocking number is 12,000 books! Did you guess the answer?

📚📖 Thank you to @theloreok for having Crime & Compassion Inc. for Friday Night Art Walk!

Let me introduce you to your new favorite author! 🗣️

I met the incredible @riosdelaluz this weekend at @theloreok Fall Market and the rot did indeed bloom into magic 💓

Rios de La Luz's imagination is a fluorescent universe bursting with color and detail. What a gift this novella is and what a strange little world I just discovered - a world where mothers and daughters exist in perpetual pain and healing. There is immense darkness in Rios de La Luz's sentient house, but just like the author's name foreshadows - there will also be an abundance of light that you'll find in these pages.

If you have a complex mother-daughter relationship this book will both destroy and fix you. Daughter of Rot is something you can read in one afternoon and think about for an eternity. Haunting, atmospheric and refreshingly original - La Luz innovates and builds worlds that will leave you in awe, I promise. RUN to get and read it today! 📚

✅ Another event on the books! 📘 Amanda @rishh520 and I spent the evening at The Lore @theloreok for Friday Night Art Walk in Norman. We celebrated Read Banned People Week and met a lot of people who supported Crime & Compassion Inc. They donated, bought our students’ books, and even reached out about volunteering. It was awesome! See you tomorrow at Second Story Books @secondstorybooksokc from noon to 4:00 p.m. 💋 #normanok #oklahoma #booksbooksbooks #prisonreform #prison
