New Release AND a Staff Pick! Come get your copy of “Off the Reservation” by Stephen Graham Jones from The Lore!

“All of the good humor and gore I wanted from Stephen Graham Jones plus quirky characters, twists, and a supernatural exploration of trauma.“ -Sarah

Description:
Nate Yellow Tail is one of the survivors of the deadly revenge murders of Stephen Graham Jones’s breakout bestseller The Only Good Indians. Five years after the massacre on the Blackfeet reservation, Nate finds himself in the hospital after a terrible accident that should’ve killed him and that nearly killed his best friend Sebby, who is hanging onto life in a room a few doors down.

Nate’s life is out of balance, so when he is given the chance to reset his life, and maybe save Sebby in the process, Nate steps up, again. This time it’s into a camper van that is almost as run down as his broken body, filled with three older Blackfeet, to find the bones of the lone Blackfeet boy who died at the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, where many Indigenous children were abused, and repatriate this boy home. The problem is, when they get the bones, something terrible has escaped with them.

Jones has crafted another American Indian novel for our times, shining light on the dark corners of this country’s history while also showing the desperate choices people make when they’re put up against a wall. taken in The Lore by @theloreok

Spice is Right Book Club meets at Yellow Dog Coffee (next door to The Lore) at 6pm on October 27th. This book club is for 18+ due to the spicy subjects and conversations!

The book we will be discussing is "A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor" by Kathryn Moon.

DESCRIPTION

On the brink of losing her position as a maid and with no prospects to go on, the offer of a place at Rooksgrave Manor - a house of ill and unusual repute - sounds like a perfect fit for a young woman with Esther’s inclinations. Even better, the invitation comes by the hand of the handsome Dr. Underwood, a delicate gentleman with a ferocious alter ego who knows exactly what he wants from Esther.

Upon arrival, the men and the daily decadence of the manor feel too good to be true for a girl of Esther’s station. There are rules to be followed, expectations to meet, and Esther is afraid she might be too wicked even for a place like Rooksgrave.

Temptations lurk around every shadowy corner and Esther has never been a girl able to resist. But the risk of disappointing her new gentlemen isn’t all that’s threatening Esther’s new position. Rooksgrave Manor’s protections for its unusual patrons are failing, the wards are crumbling, and Esther’s new and exquisitely pleasurable life may all come tumbling down. taken in Yellow Dog Coffee Company by @theloreok
