Cultivating community among Philadelphia’s electronic musicians through events and education. Slinging coffee and synthesizers to make it happen.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Saturday October 24th 7PM at Living Signal located at 4311 Lancaster Ave (on the T1 trolley line and 43 septa bus line) in Philadelphia. Co-presented with The Low Pass. Sound House returns at an all new location! Each performance takes place in a different room.

Addison Rider is a Philadelphia-based composer, performer and multimedia artist. Her work builds around the idea of perceptual intimacy, inviting listeners into musical environments that feel observant and inhabitable rather than strictly analytical. She aims to write music that breathes, music that offers sincerity, music that understands. Drawing on her background as a rock musician and songwriter, Rider’s output ranges from acoustic and electroacoustic works, to improvisatory electronic performance, and film and media scoring. Her recent projects engage with subjects of mindfulness, found sound, indexicality, meaning-making, faith, queer identity, religious deconstruction/reconstruction, and PTSD.

Also performing are Anna Johnson & iiisa.

iiisa:

iiisa is the electroacoustic solo project of NYC-based latinx improviser-composer, isabel crespo pardo. Merging field recordings, poemsongs, and familial voices from their home in Costa Rica, iiisa builds memory portals for the kindling of transformation. With a “pliable and fearless voice” (I Care If You Listen), they deftly guide the listener through ephemeral vignettes. Their work has been presented by Roulette Intermedium, Big Ears Festival, and Pioneer Works, and their debut album will be released in Fall 2026 on Leaving Records.

Also performing are Anna Johnson & Addison Rider.

Less than a year ago, @illuminatephilly put out an open call for artists. Tima (one of the main organizers) showed me an empty lot at E Letterly and Frankford, and it became my chance to do something I’d wanted for years: an event combining live electronic music and visuals in my hometown. With @sherwood.dub @radion_1.mp4 @thekillerbeerelayteam and @modularonthespotphilly we turned that lot into a hidden pocket of light and sound. It was exhilarating, and it felt like the start of something.

When Ben from @thelowpass suggested bringing the idea to Passyunk Square, I was nervous and excited. I figured we’d scale back, but the main organizers went bigger, closing blocks and rallying dozens of artists and musicians. After waiting out a rainstorm, I got to help light the corner of Greenwich and Passyunk (The Low Pass Alley) with @datacats and @thekillerbeerelayteam alongside musical performances from @seasaw.phl @keegantawa @alder_sounds @manu_gajanan @jeffzeigler_ and Dino.

None of this happens without a village. Thank you to Tima, Zoe, Ben, and Colin from @10thfloorproductions for welcoming me in and helping me reach a goal I’ve carried for a long time. Illuminate Philly feels like a current running through this city, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

‘Magic Garden’

A traveling popup that acts as a hearth, fostering deeper community engagement through gathering and conversation. Inspired by colorscapes of sky and sea in the mid-Atlantic region, Magic Garden gently fades between spectral splashes, pastel pinks, and bold blues.

Ed. 4 is especially near to our hearts, as the Ambient Garden is a space that so many, including us, have only dreamed about being in. This space is by and large closed to the public, so this truly was a rare treat for us to have this as a canvas!

SHOUT OUT to the other incredible artists who showed with us in the garden. Big thx to @illuminatephilly @thelowpass @eastpassyunk for having us! It was such an epic night and we can’t wait for the next one

The very worst thing we did last spring was leave town the weekend of @illuminatephilly East Kensington takeover. One thing’s for sure - we won’t make the same mistake when they head to @eastpassyunk on Friday!
@illuminatephilly is bringing a night of projection art to East Passyunk Avenue! They’ll be transforming the Ave with projections, lights, interactive installations, music, and so much more! @thelowpass will have some killer performances from old and new friends and the Ambient Garden will be a great space to sit down, chill out, and take in the vibes of the visuals and music! Join @waluigimangione.drag on October 2nd for mario kart all night long. Play the 2-player interactive version of Danya @_ng_v. SO MUCH MORE!!
No link, just show up! Shops may have some specials, but that’ll all be PAYG.
