The Machrie! ⬇️

We flew to the Hebridean island of Islay to visit The Machrie, somewhere I’d heard a lot about, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

From the incredible rooms and views across the course to the fantastic breakfast, the hotel and clubhouse were the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the world.

The golf course itself is a classic links that’s firm, fast and requires plenty of creativity, particularly around the greens. With incredible views throughout and holes that hug the coastline, it’s a truly special place to play.

After golf, there was time for a sauna and cold plunge before an incredible lobster dinner, followed by a spectacular sunset to finish the day.

A wonderful stay at The Machrie. What a place! 🌅

Join me on a trip to the Isles of Islay and Jura.
The peace, tranquility and abundance of clean fresh air wash over you the minute you step off the ferry. The ferry only takes 1hr 50mins and has everything you need onboard, including the pet friendly area. With a small car ferry taking you between the islands regularly it’s most definately a place to visit.

What I noticed instantly on Jura was how friendly the islanders are, waving and smiling as you drive past, stopping to chat and say hello.

I always talk about Connection and I most certainly found connection here, with self, with others and with nature.

A lovely surprise was waiting at The Mackrie Golf Resort, David’s friend and wife had flown over from Glasgow as a surprise to play golf with him 🥰

We stayed at the Bothan Jura Retreat - Cottage.

There truly is no place like Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

An Islay adventure. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Explore Islay this autumn and watch wintering geese at Loch Gruinart, sea eagles overhead, waders along the shore and goats grazing by Carraig Fhada Lighthouse.

Borrow a seven-seater family @landroverdiscovery for a day, free during your stay at Another Place, The Machrie. Each road leads somewhere new.

The island is yours. Spend the day in the wild, then return to The Machrie to unwind.

This time last week we were having Sunday lunch at the @themachrie on Islay. The Machrie didn’t disappoint we thoroughly enjoyed being there last year and going back this year. It was just as good. Delicious Sunday lunch. It’s a great Hotel and Callum who looked after us is awesome. I had asparagus soup followed by a loin of pork roast dinner followed by cheese, which we shared, and I did have a little tipple with my coffee to finish it all off. The #caolila Distillers Edition Malt Whisky was that good we went to the distillery and bought a bottle or two 🤭 making our way back now, we’re in Lockerbie for a couple of nights. #isleofislay #loveslife #scottishisland #explorescotland_

The Machrie, Isle of Islay ✨

The second stop of our Scotland trip saw us head over to the Isle of Islay, where we stayed at The Machrie. Surrounded by the golf course, dunes and one of the most incredible beaches we’ve ever seen, the setting really was something special.

The food was another highlight, freshly caught local seafood, including some of the biggest lobsters we’ve ever seen 🦞

A few honest bits, as I like to keep it real…unfortunately, the hot tubs weren’t working during our stay, which was a little disappointing. The billing system also made checkout a little messy, so hopefully that’s something they’ll look at.

But none of those things took away from what was otherwise a brilliant stay. The location, the views, the food and the most amazing sunsets made this such a memorable stop. ✨

I’ll be sharing our top tips for the Isle of Islay and the must-visits spots soon, but for now, here’s a little moment for The Machrie.
