Ride into The Groove Portal with Magic Castles
And feast your ears on the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based neo-psychedelic rock band, @themagiccastles as they drift through “She Wore Lilacs in Her Hair” from their 2015 album “Starflower” with a super groovy blend of hazy reverb-drenched guitars, warm organ drones, lush vocal harmonies, dreamy folk-rock melodies, and swirling psychedelic textures that unfold with a beautifully hypnotic, atmospheric flow.

Little Obsessions is Mara’s solo work, composed on a yamaha keyboard will satisfy all your lofi needs for aching, fully present songs. Shes currently found freaking on the streets of Portland, OR. Different blood. Same white flame.
No two bones ever burn the same.
Calm inside collision. Voltage in bloom.
Break apart the room.

The force against you.
Is the force that makes you go.

Twin Cities... We're doing a new thing over here. It's a supper club for people who love eclectic music located at @northernwarehouseartcollective 💙 I stole this genius idea from my friend Phillip Gelb who does @soundandsavor in Oakland, not realizing he stole the idea from his mentor, free jazz legend Sam Rivers, and his RIVBEA space to have dinners and jam with his friends 😉 @undergroundrestaurantmsp is doing a first Saturday of the month musical residency for the next year at their live/work/gallery space. We plan to have some stellar musicians play in our loft space where our @hullabaloosoundstudios is located. Our first show will be 2 blistering music sets with @l1ght6ul6 , formerly known as Old Moon, and featuring members of @themagiccastles 🏰 We'll have free food (5 course meal that will be next level, and include desert) and drinks. Link to the tickets is on the next Instagram post, just scan the Venmo code.

This week on #ifitbeyourwill, I’m joined by Jason Edmonds of @themagiccastles. We trace the band’s journey from obscure DIY psych recordings to Realized, their expansive new album on @fuzzclubrecords. We talk about building atmosphere, recording in Minnesota, the enduring influence of 60s psychedelia, and creating music that rewards deep listening in an age of constant distraction. A thoughtful conversation from one of modern psych’s most quietly captivating bands.
