POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Domestic violence and human trafficking are often discussed as separate issues, but they frequently overlap.

Both involve patterns of power and control. Both rely on tactics like isolation, intimidation, manipulation, threats, financial control, and emotional abuse to keep someone trapped. [unicefusa.org]

In some cases, an abusive partner may also exploit their partner through forced labor or commercial sex, a form of trafficking known as intimate partner trafficking. [nnedv.org]

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re recognizing the connections between these forms of exploitation and the importance of trauma-informed support for survivors.

When we understand the realities of abuse, we’re better equipped to recognize it, respond to it, and support healing.

Still feels like a dream… ✨

From dreaming of moments like this to opening for @thechainsmokers in Nashville, it’s hard to put into words how much this night meant to me.

But what made it even more special was being part of something bigger than music. Together, we raised over $19,000 in less than a week for the @themaryparrishcenter, supporting an incredible cause through @lightsonthelawn.

Huge thank you to @lightsonthelawn, @thechainsmokers, @bandierprogram, @teddyraskin and everyone who made this night possible.

Nashville, I’ll never forget this one. ❤️

This past Saturday, we gathered at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge for the annual Meet Us at the Bridge event to honor the 5 lives lost to domestic violence in Davidson County this past year. Our hearts remain with the families and friends of each victim, and we continue to hold their loved ones in our thoughts. 💜
.
Thank you to @nashvillecadv for hosting the event and for continuing to amplify victim voices.

Last week we celebrated Domestic Violence Awareness Month at the Office of Family Safety and recognized our very own Whitney Blanton, Special Projects Manager, with the Hope Hero Award.

Whitney’s dedication and commitment to supporting survivors and strengthening our community make her truly deserving of this recognition. We are grateful for the impact she has been making on her staff and community for decades.

Thank you Whitney for all of your hard work. 💜

Dylan Steele ’29, aka DJ Amplitude, was selected as one of 13 DJs from across the country to compete in the Lights on the Lawn fundraiser supporting the Mary Parrish Center, which provides housing, resources, and support for survivors of domestic and relationship abuse.

Dylan went on to raise the most money for the Mary Parrish Center, representing Bandier on stage, and openening for The Chainsmokers! 🎶🍊

We couldn’t have done it without everyone who donated and supported Dylan along the way. Thank you to everyone who helped make this moment possible! 🧡

For my birthday, I’m asking for something a little different.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this year I’m using my birthday to support an organization that has become very close to my heart, the Mary Parrish Center.

This cause is personal for me.

In October 2019, domestic violence came literally to our front porch. Our neighbor and her 13-year-old son lost their lives at the hands of her abuser. Her two daughters were also targeted but were able to escape. That young man would be 20 years old today.

It’s something my family and I will never forget.

This year, I was grateful to serve on the Mary Parrish Center’s Housing Hope Committee and learn even more about the incredible work they do to help survivors and their children rebuild their lives with safety, stability and hope.

So for my birthday, instead of simply celebrating another year of life, I’d love to help protect and support the lives of others.

If you’d like to celebrate with me, please consider making a donation to the Mary Parrish Center. MaryParrish.org Whether it’s $5, $25, $50 or whatever feels right to you, every gift helps.

And even if you can’t give, please share this post. Awareness matters too. 🫶🏽

Today I’m celebrating life by helping another woman and her children have the opportunity to safely live theirs.

This weekend was a tough one in Tennessee but at least we helped @lightsonthelawn raise over $1 million for
@themaryparrishcenter

Our show in Knoxville was shut down before we even showed up because fans rushed the gates and overwhelmed security. and then our stage in Nashville partially collapsed in the first 2 min of our show! Sheesh. We made the best of it and will try again this weekend.
