From getting hands on with @wisethailandwatch earlier this year. They're definitely a bright and fun colors microbrand and I really enjoy what they're doing with dial textures, especially on the Mahanakorn MH150 (the red one). They definitely punch above their weight on price as well. Some watches are designed to show off the movement. Others are designed to showcase the craft behind it. That’s what I appreciate about the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Skeleton. The movement isn’t simply skeletonized—it has been thoughtfully opened up, with every bridge shaped, beveled, and hand-finished to create depth without sacrificing harmony. The rose gold case and signature knurled Toric bezel frame the movement rather than compete with it. It’s a watch that rewards slowing down. Every time I wear it, I notice another detail in the finishing, architecture, or proportions that I hadn’t appreciated before. For me, that’s the mark of a great collector’s watch. We’re kicking off something new: How We Shot It.📸 A weekly series breaking down the photography techniques we use, one at a time. A few of you have been asking how we get our shots looking the way they do, so we figured it’s about time we actually showed our working, and thinking behind some of our shoots. We have been shooting watches for five years now, and we’ve picked up a lot along the way, so it feels like the right time to start sharing it with the community that’s been asking for it, in a more structured way. Episode 1: color casts using nothing but a small LED 💡 Start with the flat lay: even spacing across the frame, then bring in props of different textures and sizes; leather, metal, paper, rope, whatever roughs up the composition a bit. Too much uniformity and it reads flat before you’ve even touched a light. From there it’s a lighting story in two parts. First, just good clean lighting. Even, well-exposed, does the job. Then we drop in a single small LED off to the side and everything changes: a wash of color across the case, real shadow depth, texture you didn’t have a second ago. Same setup, completely different mood. The watch carrying this one: the @micromilspec Project Sabotage. Properly tough, properly cool and felt like the right piece to kick this off with.
