A lot of people have asked what happened to me at Midwest OCR on September 18, and honestly, I haven’t really known what to say. ❤️

I left that race feeling disappointed. Not because I didn’t give it my all, but because I knew I wasn’t myself, and I wasn’t able to perform the way I wanted to.

Just 7 days before the race, I had my heart procedure. I had only been cleared for light activity, but Midwest OCR is a race I love, and I really didn’t want to miss it. So I showed up, knowing I wasn’t at 100%.

Between long flight delays, getting only 2 hours of sleep before race day, and still recovering from everything my body had been through, it was a tough day. I wasn’t feeling my best, and the results reflected that.

As a competitive athlete, it’s hard to accept when your body can’t do what your mind wants it to do. I had expectations for myself, and it was frustrating not to meet them. I love this sport, I love competing, and I know what I’m capable of when I’m healthy.

But I’m also learning that recovery comes with a lot of patience. After a stroke and a heart procedure, my journey back isn’t going to look like it did before. As much as I want to jump right back into doing what I love, I have to give my body the time it needs.

I’m proud that I showed up, even if I wasn’t proud of my performance. Both things can be true.

A huge thank you to Dana and Aaron for putting together such an amazing event! Midwest OCR is one of those races that makes you grateful to be part of this community, and I’m thankful I was able to be there, even if the weekend didn’t go as planned. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who checked on me, encouraged me, and continues to support me through this journey. It means more than you know.

I didn’t get the race I wanted, but this is just one moment in a much bigger journey. I’m still here, still fighting, and still figuring out what this next chapter looks like.

Same fight. Same heart. One day at a time. 💗 @themidwestocr @ctg_mythicrace_proteam @usaocr @absolutefitnessgym
