💜 Can I #overlove my evening?
Scene Night. Opening Night. Director/Cinematographer Q&A. Charcuterie Boards and a full spread with flowing drinks.
The #BEST rendition of #thecolorpurple I have ever been privileged to experience, produced at the dynamic @goodmantheatre on the eve of their centennial season!
Trust me when I tell you I was blessed to be in this academic, soul rendering, cultural moment in time with a few of my closest #goalfriends 💜
Everyone said it was a fantastic evening and money well spent.
If you haven’t bought tickets to see The Color Purple on Broadway at the Goodman Theater yet, this is your strong sign to do so! If you even remotely enjoy the book, movie (s) or musical form of this story, don’t hesitate, don’t overthink it. Buy your tickets and go see what I’m talking about, up close and personal. Thank me later.
💜
I am already eyeing their 2025-2026 season and @goodmantheatre is quickly becoming my favorite playhouse in Chicago! Who knew this non-profit theater also hosts free theater camps for children in the City of Chicago? I am beyond impressed.

Welcome to the 40s club, @themindsetshiftmaven! You asked that we wear "elevated all Black attire...with a bow." I got my earrings and the back of my socks to do the trick. 🖤🎀 Thank you for inviting me to celebrate you through my BF @flane25. I truly believe you are an incredible woman who pivots whether afraid or not, who allows nothing (not even yourself) to get in your way, and who dreams big while also willing to do the work. Enjoy this new decade, for I know it will come with clarified vision and new success for you and your family. 🎉

🗣“THINKSMART & READ” is BACK!!

“ThinkSmart & Read” is our national literacy awareness campaign. This campaign is our stance for social justice. We believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities no matter their race, religion, or national creed

Thank you Brittany Villard (Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.) for your participation!

🚨Please let us know if you're willing to participate as a feature for this amazing campaign! (DM your email address)

Thank you B Michelle Villard for your participation!

💡In ancient times it was said, "Don’t teach Africans (Blacks) to read”
BUT that time is not now!
Reading was fundamental then and is even more FUNDAMENTAL NOW!!
*Poor literacy can hurt a student's/individuals access to a successful career, opportunities or even a promising future. They knew it then and it’s more relevant today!

Help us continue to change that narrative by participating in our campaign.

“ThinkSmart & Read”
celebrates & spotlights achievement in the African American communities in all areas & levels:
1. Education
2. Business
3. Entrepreneurship
4. Politics
5. Family Values (Etc.)

I had the pleasure of meeting Beaux this weekend. #Children are a reminder of all that is good, pure, and innocent in this world. They are a reminder of God’s faithfulness towards us and our responsibility towards them.

Beaux, I am all the better for meeting you. Keep smiling, little one. The #world is waiting for all you shall become. ❤️

I remember us being inducted into #40under40 together and thinking, "Who is that gorgeous #girl in that green dress?"
Now I know.
#HappyBirthday to my fun in the #sun Sis 😎
P.S. Summer is coming.

This holiday feels abnormal to say the least. So many of us feel physically disconnected from the people who mean the most. And yet, the connections we’ve made and deepened during this time apart—whether through digital book clubs, extended zoom dates, or deep text chains—hold singular space in our hearts. That’s because in some way, they’ve helped us navigate a singular time in our lives.

I woke up feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for this community of readers, dreamers, thinkers, and builders who continue finding each other through this book and allowing it to be a small part of your own life stories. I get a little emotional thinking about our @morethanenough #ReaderGram fam and all the stories YOU share with ME in DMs that I save or in comments that I cherish reading online. It’s a strange thing to feel so connected to people you’ve never met but y’all are MY PEOPLE so before I log off this thing to be present in my body with all my feels as I attempt to invent new traditions to give thanks, I just wanted to tell y’all I SEE YOU and I appreciate the way you see me, too.

The way we thank and celebrate each other will look a bit different this year. But wherever you find yourself today, I hope you give yourself permission to find new ways to show love to anyone who has helped you through this slice of life—and know that whatever that looks like is #MoreThanEnough. Because what comes from the heart, touches the heart. 💫💕

Happy day of giving thanks, fam!

Grateful this Thanksgiving for my #ReaderGram fam who continue to embrace and love on this book— taking it to heights I never could’ve imagined.

Wherever you find yourself today, I hope you take a moment to remind yourself that you are #MoreThanEnough ✨

My cup runneth over.
When everything fades and falls away, it is the people with whom memories are exchanged and love is created that I am most thankful for.
If I tagged you, nearest and dearest, it is because I am thankful for how you have chosen to show up in my life this year.

You held my hand when I cried. You fed me when I was hungry. You brought my name up in conversations I wasn't privy to. You believed in my gifts. You spoke life into that lonely part of me. You asked how you could help. You helped without my having to ask. You brought joy to my life. You wanted to make me happy. You prayed for me. You prayed with me. You encouraged me to not give up. You gave me a seat at the table. You allowed me to be a high energy woman around you. You, as a man, led. You, as a woman, loved. You forgave me. You extended grace. You celebrated me. You met me in shared spaces of vulnerability. You did not betray my trust. And, most importantly, you saw my heart.

Today, I am #blessed. We walked through 2020 together, be it for one day or a collective of days. What I'm trying to say is that my life was made all the better, because I know you.

Thank you for how you showed up. Thank you for not leaving. Thank you for loving. 💕
