Toronto knew the face… but did we sleep on the music? 👀🇨🇦

OB O’Brien had more to offer than funny moments in music videos. From “Steve Nash” to “Schemin Up,” let’s give the records another listen. 🔥

Be honest did you know OB could rap or did you only recognize him from Drake’s videos? And WHERE’S OB?! 😂👇🏾

Historical Moment: THEY WON THE JUNO… AND REFUSED IT. 🏆✊🏾🇨🇦

In 1998, Vancouver’s Rascalz refused their award while Canadian rap was being kept off the televised ceremony. The following year, the rap award made the broadcast and “Northern Touch” took it home.

Sometimes standing on principle means putting the trophy down so the whole culture can rise. 💯

Watch through to the speech. Hearing them speak for themselves is an important part of this story.

Give @red1music and @djkemo their 🪷🌺🌸🌾🪻🌷

Would you turn down an award to stand up for your culture? 👇🏾

🇨🇦🌆 THE 6IX UNDISCOVERED: 2RUDE

Before Toronto became a global music city, @rudimentalrecords_inc was already helping build the sound. 🎛️🔥

From working with some of Canada’s most important MCs to producing records that helped define an era, his fingerprints are ALL OVER Canadian hip-hop.

Some names get celebrated constantly. Others helped build the foundation and don’t get nearly enough flowers.

2Rude deserves his. 💐👑

How high does 2Rude rank among the most important producers in Canadian hip-hop history? 👇🏾

QUICK CORRECTION: In the video i said Keysha Freshh recorded her first song at 5. She actually wrote the song at 5 and had it published. Just wanted to make sure I got that detail right. 🫡🇨🇦

🇨🇦Before a lot of us even knew what a bar was, @freekeysha was already putting in WORK.

From rapping as a kid, to growing up in the game, releasing projects and continuing to represent Canadian hip hop her story deserves more attention.

This is exactly why i created THE 6IX UNDISCOVERED. 🔥🇨🇦

Giving flowers to the artists who have been putting in work, but don’t always get the recognition their résumé deserves.

🎤 Featuring: @freekeysha

Did you know she started THAT young? 👀 And who should i feature next? Drop a name below. ⬇️
