Today we're shouting out to our ukulele program at IPS 31 James A. Garfield and one of our students, Iggy! The physics of music, which is ultimately vibration, can't be ignored in the development of a happy, healthy student. Iggy tells us about the feeling of music throughout his whole body. What a gift to be able to share! Share in the comments about a musician you know or how music education has positively impacted your life! @samjones.wav @jamesgarfield31

The Mockingbird Foundation has teamed up with the Vermont Student Assistance Corp. (VSAC) to establish a new scholarship for college students pursuing degrees in music or music education in Vermont. Funded entirely by Phish fans, The Mockingbird Foundation Music Scholarship brings the community’s impact full circle to the state where four University of Vermont students first formed the band in 1983. The endowment is designed to operate in perpetuity, creating an ongoing legacy of support for future generations of musicians and educators. “Phish fans will now be able to directly help students in Vermont who share a passion for music,” said VSAC President and CEO Scott Giles. “VSAC is delighted to help support generations of learners who share fans’ enthusiasm for the power of song.” More info at the link in bio.

The 3rd Wingsuit Open fundraiser disc golf tournament was a success on many levels. First the participants had a great time as laughter, fun and camaraderie was all around. Second the multitude of fundraising options including the NPPP program and a wonderfully fun 9-hole mini disc golf course in and through the trees of Johnny Roberts DGC, raised $1425.00 for music education and access for schools through the official tournament charity @themockingbirdfoundation. Third, I exposed more people to competition at the busiest disc golf course in the country. A ton of people approached me saying they didn’t know the tournament was happening. After explaining how registration had been on Disc Golf Scene for three months; most seemed surprised to learn about the separate DG Scene registration website. Opportunity unlocked. Congratulations to all the winners who took home a trophy, part of the 250% amateur value. MPO Bryan Bonack MA40 Joel Detwiler MA50 Shane Steinhoff MA60 Ron Dropcho FA3 Sarah Romero MA2 Tyler Robinson (won playoff) MA3 David Pionke MA4 Michael Penny Gigantic thank you to all the sponsors who support this event to make it happen. @estersdenver @trashpandadiscgolf @rockymtnheat @pdga The Shades of Gray Masters is up next October 3-4, 2026 at Adam’s Hollow for those over 40. Keep an eye on www.PeaceJames.co for future fun and camaraderie. #peace #discgolf #music #musiceducation #getoutside

This was the finale! When the last scene ended, every single kid stood up from the gymnasium floor and joined the audience. We had rehearsed the song together, and they knew exactly what to sing. What they did not know was that my secret black ops teacher special effects team was standing by, and what was about to happen next! Bubbles and balloons and beach balls filled the air without any warning whatsoever, a glowstick war broke out across the gymnasium, little voices sang, and the whole room bounced together in one of the most joyful moments I have ever witnessed in my life as a musician and a teacher! At the end of the night, kids walked out with their groundscores, grinning ear to ear! “And faintly bouncing ‘round the room, the echo of whomever spoke.” The echo is still bouncing! We are raising $30,000 to support music programming for our three small mountain schools through the Nederland Elementary School PTA. Three days left on our limited edition show shirt presale. Once they’re gone they’re gone! Link in bio. #PhishHead #PhishFamily #MusicTeacher #ColoradoMusic MountainLife

A little ice dye for a good cause ⭕️⛳️ Made these one-of-a-kind golf towels for The Mockingbird Foundation’s 11th Annual Runaway Open, happening this weekend in Denver during the Phish Dick’s run. Mockingbird is a 100% volunteer, fan-founded nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to music education for kids — providing grants for instruments, instruction and music programs, with a special focus on underserved communities. Psyched to have a little Corner 12 ice dye out on the course. 🌀🏌️‍♂️ See you at Dick’s. ⭕️ #Phish #MockingbirdFoundation #RunawayOpen #PhishDicks #IceDye

🤩👏 Miami Lighthouse Youth Music Program participants perform "Billie Jean" at Miami-Dade County's Celebration of the 36th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! Miami Lighthouse's Youth Music Program participants are in 6-12th grade, with mixed abilities, some have visual impairment/blindness, and some are sighted. Together, they rock! 🎸 To see more of their performance, check out the Facebook post here ➜ https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1f7mUo3RdD/ In 1990, ADA legislation was signed; a landmark civil rights law that ensures people with disabilities have equal rights, full community participation, and protection from discrimination in employment, public services, transportation, public accommodations, and telecommunications. In gratitude for the ADA and how it supports our Miami Lighthouse community, we thank Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami Dade County ADA Coordinator Heidi Johnson-Wright Johnson, and Jody Cox, ADA Administrator. Together, we prove it’s possible to see without sight!™ 💙 Miami Lighthouse Music Programs are made possible with support from the Florida Division of Blind Services, The Children's Trust, The Wildflower Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, The Mockingbird Foundation, and more. 🎶 To learn about Miami Lighthouse music programs, visit ➜ https://miamilighthouse.org/Music_Program.asp #MiamiLeaders #SupportingtheBlind #VisualImpairment #ADA #MiamiLighthouse
