The Mockingbird Foundation is honored to announce that it has endowed a fund with the Vermont Student Assistance Corp. (VSAC) to provide an annual scholarship to a student studying music or music education at a college in Vermont. The fund will provide scholarships in perpetuity, supporting generations of music students, and outlasting the band, the fans, and Mockingbird itself. In short: Music scholarships funded entirely by Phish fans will continue - in principle, and on appreciating principal - forever!

The 3rd Wingsuit Open fundraiser disc golf tournament was a success on many levels. First the participants had a great time as laughter, fun and camaraderie was all around. Second the multitude of fundraising options including the NPPP program and a wonderfully fun 9-hole mini disc golf course in and through the trees of Johnny Roberts DGC, raised $1425.00 for music education and access for schools through the official tournament charity @themockingbirdfoundation. Third, I exposed more people to competition at the busiest disc golf course in the country. A ton of people approached me saying they didn’t know the tournament was happening. After explaining how registration had been on Disc Golf Scene for three months; most seemed surprised to learn about the separate DG Scene registration website. Opportunity unlocked.

Congratulations to all the winners who took home a trophy, part of the 250% amateur value.

The second selection in the "Mockingbird (read the) Book Club" will be Walter "Waxbanks" Holland's Phish's A Live One. Part of Bloomsbury Publishing's fabulous 33 1/3 series, this is a 160-page retrospective twenty years after Phish's first live release, which followed years of the band being asked, "When are you going to release a live one?"... and, so, they did.

As Bloomsbury details it, the book "places Phish and their fandom in historical and cultural context, and picks apart the mechanics of their extended group jams. And it examines the mystery of how a quartet of nice boys from Burlington, VT could have been, all at once, one of America's biggest touring acts and one of its best-kept secrets."

With great excitement we are announcing our 4th annual Back to School fund drive. Schools across the country are gearing up for a busy school year and many can use our support to help close funding gaps for their music programs.

The 3rd Wingsuit Open is a charity fundraiser disc golf tournament and Mini Disc Golf event for @themockingbirdfoundation who supports music education and access for children’s groups and schools. Celebrating the music of @phish when they come to Denver, this is a sister event to the Runaway Open ball golf fundraiser and is open to beginners and experienced players alike.

Anyone anywhere who can’t make it to the event, can still support in multiple ways. Easy sponsorships starting at $25 using the SPON (sponsorship) division, straight donations to @themockingbirdfoundation through the NCS (non-competing caddy spectator) or MINI (Mini Disc Golf only not PDGA) divisions on Disc Golf Scene registration page, or purchases through the NPPP program on eBay.

There are 3 NPPP or non-playing players pack purchase fundraising options, so that anyone anywhere can help support The Mockingbird Foundation, even if they can’t make it to the tournament. All are available on eBay with direct and transparent donations for each sale, much easier shipping, plus buyer and seller protections. The two $40 player pack options donate 50% and can be shipped right away, but the $30 tournament T-shirts from size S-5XL which donate 35% are a pre-sale that will be shipped after the event. Plus there is even free shipping for everything!

🎻Grantee Highlight🎻 Young Women’s Preparatory Network in El Paso, TX

In 2025 this deserving organization was the recipient of a $10,000 competitive grant - used to broaden access to music education across two schools, grades 6-12.

As a result of the grant, more students were able to consistently engage in music classes and participate in performances and other enrichment opportunities that had previously been limited by funding constraints! by @themockingbirdfoundation

We’re excited to announce nine new tour grants today, totaling $18,000 - one in each city in which Phish is performing during its summer tour. Grants will help fund new instruments, pay teaching artists, subsidize lesson tuition, purchase uniforms, and much more.

These are our 36th set of tour grants, and include our 250th tour grant and 800th (!!) grant overall — all possible thanks to the support of fans like you. by @themockingbirdfoundation
