As our lives become increasingly digital, the spaces we long for are becoming increasingly analogue. The library is finding its place again, not through nostalgia, but through necessity.

A room lined with books invites us to linger. To read slowly. To think deeply. To embrace the luxury of uninterrupted time and the quiet ritual of turning a page.

Perhaps the most enduring interiors aren't those that simply impress, but those that restore us. Spaces that remind us that beauty and stillness will always have a place in the home.

I painted these large planters for a broader community initiative by @theflowerdistrictwestleedy. A collaborative public space combining art, furniture, landscaping and solar powered charging to create a place for people to pause and connect.

Particularly in love with the Palisade Park bench by @haydesign accompanying the plantars.

Thanks and congrats to

COMBE MARTIN | Special visitors.

I have only shared the Combe Martin design story with a handful of people, not because I haven’t wanted to share our progress, but more so because of the overwhelming fear that plagues me at night, that perhaps I haven’t done a good job.

However, when dear friends, Marie and Gino from @montauklightingco and @themoderntraditionalists wanted to visit, I felt safe to share the design that we have so passionately and fastidiously created with likeminded design aficionados.

Designing for oneself is a deeply personal and emotional journey. I have almost buckled under the pressure designing this home. Not only because of the level of Heritage overlay that protects Combe Martin, it has also been the sense of obligation to the home itself, and to all of the locals who feel so attached to this iconic building.

However, it runs deeper still. I have self imposed immense pressure to create a masterpiece for my family, for they are the people I love and adore the most, and I care deeply about what their experience of Combe Martin will be. In many ways, along the journey, I have felt that I have failed them, by virtue of the renovation program taking so long.

Walking Marie and Gino through our vision, from the materiality, the joinery, the lighting plan and the furniture actually reinvigorated my passion for the project. When you are deep in design, sometimes it is challenging to come out from beneath the technical detailing to see the overall vision.

When Marie and Gino expressed sheer delight for the design stories of Combe Martin, I felt immediately at ease. They have both given me the boost of confidence that I was needing, just at the right time.

Thank you to you both, for the support and care given to us at KWD, and for helping us in such a significant way in bringing this grand old home back to her former glory.
