The table is officially set. ✨

For our final Feed It Forward reveal, meet Gavin Schmidt of The Morris, Daniella Banchero of Piccino, Andrew Nelson of Golden Sardine, Andrew McCormack of Early to Rise, and Jacob Croom of My Friend Fernando and Pico.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve introduced the chefs and culinary talent coming together to help us mark 10 years of Farming Hope. From restaurants across the Bay Area to one table at The Avalon, this lineup represents the food, hospitality, and community that have been such an important part of our story.

On November 7, we’re bringing everyone together to celebrate where we’ve been, the people who helped get us here, and everything we’re ready to feed forward into the next decade. 💚

20 culinary talents. 10 years. One table. All that’s missing is you.

📅 November 7, 2026
📍 The Avalon, 1244 Sutter St., San Francisco

The Morris is one of those restaurants I come back to again and again (and again). There’s so much heart in their food, wine, and people.

A few things I especially love: their poulet frites lunches, a wine program that I’m always excited about (plus their chartreuse and cocktails), and ofc the donuts with whiskey crème anglaise.

I just really, really love this restaurant.

A happy hour at The Morris @themorris_sf turned into quite the adventure! We were absolutely here for it. 🍸✨

First up: the iconic Chartreuse Slushie for just $5 during happy hour! 💚 If you love Chartreuse, this is definitely a place to visit.

The shishito peppers were also on the happy hour menu, served with a broiled lemon and anchovies. Bright, savory, and delicious. Before ordering the entree, I spotted the chicken nuggets with caviar and homemade ranch… and obviously had to try them. 😂 Caviar on a chicken nugget? Absolutely.

We had heard about the smoked duck, so we ordered half. The duck is brined, aged for 7–10 days! It was such an experience. We ate in somewhat silence. It is deeply flavorful, and served alongside an incredible array of potatoes and root vegetables.
And because apparently we hadn’t eaten enough, we finished with the donut fritters with whiskey anglaise—warm, soft, and coated in warming spices. That whiskey sauce made the whole thing feel wonderfully cozy and homey.
One of the highlights was an impromptu Chartreuse education with Jason Jameson, the bar director. He is incredibly knowledgeable and generously shared the history, herbal complexity, and fascinating nuances of this legendary liqueur. We were completely here for it. 💚

We sat at the bar and also tried a porter called Coffee & Cigarettes. It was rich, roasty, and filling.

The Morris is such a unique experience: an open-concept kitchen, a thoughtfully curated food and cocktail program, serious attention to quality, and a bar where you might just stumble into an unexpected education along with your drinks.

Definitely an adventure worth having. 🥃💚

What makes a great wine list today? Encyclopedic depth and trophy bottles aren’t going away, but beverage directors are finding new ways to stand out through thoughtful editing, distinct points of views, and a greater emphasis on discovery.

Many of these changes share a common goal: making serious wine easier to explore, whether through the list itself or the people serving it. As Bibliothèque beverage director Scott Woltz puts it, “A wine list shouldn’t feel like a test. It should feel like an invitation.” In the first installment of a new series exploring the modern wine list, we look at how the definition of a great wine program is evolving. ✍️ @caitmilla 📸 Cole Wilson @stars_nyc @claud_nyc @penny_newyork @chasesinzer @themorris_sf @sirene_oak @a_c_cummings @bludornhtx @evanwhitewine @gregatcoravin @coravin @lei.wine @sardonic_maceration @bibliothequenyc @scowophoto @sunkencork @braserochicago @terroirny @chambers.nyc @pascalinelepeltier

San Francisco is back, baby.

I’ve been eating my way through this city since I was a teenager. At one point I was flying up almost monthly to eat at Saison. I’m sick, I know.

Then post pandemic SF got grim and I stopped coming as much.

Well, KB and I just spent a few days up there and it felt fucking great.

The Morris. Birdsong. Dalida. Chez Panisse. Zuni. A lot of Chartreuse. A lot of food. And a city that felt cleaner, busier and more alive than I’ve seen it in years.

I’ve always said that pound for pound, San Francisco has a better restaurant and bar scene than LA. This trip pretty much confirmed as much.

Full rundown, all the food, drinks, stories, pics and my love letter to Chris “Blue Cheese” Bleidorn is up on the Substack.

San Francisco is backkkkk. Link in bio.
