Dreaming Through the Iris (2026)

Had a moment to recreate my piece into a dream scape of love, beauty, and balance 🤍

Thank you @arts_after_hours and @bk_arthaus

“Dreaming Through the Iris” is the feeling of nostalgia, grief, happiness, and love that brings us into the dream world to escape the darkness that falls with in ourselves.”

This is the beginning of my first evening-length dance piece that I choreographed for @beacondanceandmovement 's Moving Bodies/Moving Hearts/Moving Minds Concert back in April of this year.

I poured a lot into this piece, and my dear friends @thee_hze and @jaeda_may helped me bring it all to life 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 join us on this journey we embarked on, starting with the entry of 3 weary souls draped in red. ♦️♦️♦️

♦️"Nothing More To Say" is a piece that stems from the feeling of so desperately wanting to say something, through actions or words, but not being able to get it out. Despite one's best efforts, things seem to fall apart over and over again. We look into ourselves to ask these questions: what stops someone from finding their true voice? Is it to be found with others or alone? What is it that "I" have to say?♦️

♦️Something calls me from afar. Like a moth to a flame, I approach, but the closer I get, the more I fall apart. What is holding me back from reaching you? And can I ever hope to break free?♦️

I spontaneously filmed all this back in April, around the time I premiered the piece I made called "Nothing More To Say". It was a project that the contained pure, volatile emotions that I had been feeling, and I believe now is a good time to revisit it and what it meant to me.
I invite y'all to tune into this story I'm about to tell, and I hope that you'll stick around for the ride ☺️

There are no words I would be able to use that fully encapsulates what I experienced on May 9th 2026. You simply had to be there.

Kevin Crouch & Dualis: Boundary crossing and mind opening. These are creative spirits that can’t be tamed
Nasir Scott: Transformative and had a deeply intimate performance. He is the epitome of black musical excellence

The last slide depicts the growth in talent that Wilde Lake brewed and I’ll forever be grateful to have been part of the journey 🎼🐾
