PURSUIT OF SOLACE

After a 5 month break from photography, we’re here. Truly grateful for that space of presence - it was the first time I could actually breathe.

So often, I’m used to the anxiety of consistently producing and looking for “what’s next.” That break made me realize that rest is just as important as the act of creating itself. I came back stronger, a clearer vision, and new standard for myself.

PURSUT OF SOLACE

Words cannot describe how proud we are of this piece. The story is so much more than a film, but shedding light to the historic nature of Classical Ballerinas and Composures.

The film breaks barriers to re-imagine how Black Americans show up and be our full selves in any space! Huge shoutout to the PRODIGY @nastheproducer for being a SELF TAUGHT pianist and composer at only 18! @jasmcheyl for stepping out of your comfort zone and taking on a genre piece that one mistreated you, yet you walk with grace to show nothing can stop you.

Thank you to the team @celestestudiosglobal and @zionackee for co-signing all our crazy ideas. Thank you to @paryspannell for helping create this beautiful piece and challenge yourself to create something new.

Last, but certainly not least, huge shoutout to @barrettmillerii of @gritsonsunday for seeing the vision through. We’ve learned so much working with you and the VA Grits Family on a piece that will inspire so many. You all are legends in your own lane.

Year 1 down. I did everything I said I was going to do and more. Thank you everyone for listening and everyone that helped me find myself. I spent all of 2024 being afraid to step outside of my comfort zone, constantly worrying about the reactions of those around me. 2025 is the year of simply not giving a fuck. 2025 is the year of expression. by @thenasirscott

When I first discovered Nasir in November of 2024, I was truly amazed to encounter another Black Composer, especially since my journey of classical music began early - mid 2021. The pieces he composes are true masterpieces, with my favourite being “The Chase Is Over.”

His music reminds me of another Black Composer who I discovered within that year (2021) and also appreciate, Joseph Bolonge Chevalier De Saint - Georges.

Nasir’s art has touched me deeply.

PURPOSE.

We created this piece to break bounds within media at large. There is no limits to our possibilities as creators and my intention is that this piece continue to expand our fields of possibility to know that we can be anything. We can do anything.

The only limitations we have is those that we place upon ourselves. No group, person, nor system can stop us from our called being. As we continue to break bounds collaboration is a must. Community is how we create a movement and shift the narrative by @thenasirscott
