POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

the ninth wave are back and here are some press shots i did for them

a band the whole of scotland hold very close to their heart, myself included. I have shot them many times over the years so it was an honour to do these photos for them.

i still remember the feeling of carefully peeling the backing label off my first ever real sticky photo pass which had reached my hands through working with a band who were supporting them one night 21st december 2018. this support band in question, and me, and all our friends were huge fans, and i took some interesting photos of their set. i say interesting because i owned only one lens, an 85mm (???) and only shot on film and also had only shot a handful of gigs up until that point. the photos are the kind of shots you could only possibly get through having no idea what you’re doing, and for that reason i love them. over the years that followed, some of my favourite live photos from that period happened at their shows and a lot of those photos were the ones that made me believe maybe i was getting quite good at this. they have always been completely compelling and inspiring to watch live. i’ll put some of my early ninth wave shots on my story maybe after this. so i guess in some ways, i went to the photography school of shooting the ninth wave gigs with limited kit and a lot of admiration for them in my heart. you guys are goats @theninthwave_
