Running in his mum’s footsteps! 💛

When Jack Goodwin @itsjackgoodwin lost his mum Debbie to glioblastoma in 2023, he returned to running as a way of coping with his grief.

Debbie was a keen runner herself, taking part in more than 50 races for charity. So, in her memory, Jack set himself an incredible challenge: running 2,740km in 2024, including 15 marathons and two ultra-marathons, to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.

He completed that challenge in December 2024, finishing his final marathon in a PB of 3:24. But Jack has continued to run, fundraise and raise awareness as a Brain Tumour Research Trustee.

This weekend, he’ll be back on the start line at the Robin Hood Half Marathon, running alongside our Ambassador Anthony Bryan. @thenolimitsathlete

Good luck to Jack, Anthony and everyone running for Brain Tumour Research this weekend. Every mile helps us fund vital research and work towards a cure for all types of brain tumours.🏃‍♂️

Sometimes, it isn’t a lack of ability that holds us back.

It’s the story we’ve been told about what we can and can’t do.

After suffering from a stroke at the age of 6 which left him paralysed in one side of his body, Anthony Bryan grew up being told, in different ways, what his body couldn’t do.

In one PE lesson, he asked if he could go in goal.

“You need two hands to go in goal.”

Comments like that made Anthony stay away from sport for years.

Then, at secondary school, a simple fitness test changed everything.

His only goal was not to come last.

He ran as hard as he could.

He finished 15th out of 30.

And his teacher said something that would change the direction of his life:

“Have you ever heard of the Paralympics?”

What happened next is extraordinary.

But perhaps the most interesting part is what Anthony discovered about himself along the way:

Maybe the limits he’d been given weren’t his limits at all.

🎙️ Find out how Anthony Bryan became a world-champion runner at The Cerebral Palsy Wold Games, and a Marathon World- Record holder. Full conversation on the Exceed High Performance Podcast.
