W A R M I N G
It’s been a while! We moved in five weeks ago, and it was a much bigger thing emotionally than I thought it would be, so we’ve been off insta-spam just embracing it / relentlessly unpacking / ordering yet more house stuff depending on the day you catch us.

The first week or so we all got sick and it felt like we were living in someone else’s house, nobody knew where anything should go, and Sam and I we were discombobulated. Every time I opened the borrowed garage to the wall of crap we had to move in, I was like a rabbit in the headlights.

The kids were much quicker to settle, being inherently less careful, more playful and declaring to anyone who asked that the house was “nice, but echoey”. Just the words you want to hear after spending nearly half a million pounds!

After a while it just sort of hit us, we had done it, this is our home. We were ready for a party.

In reality, we were only just about ready as guests arrived. @r.j.parry was the first here and was treated to the sight of my cap-squished sweaty hair mullet as I legged it across the patio, plonking down plants and desperately kicking any remnants of rubbish under our new hedges.

We had a brilliant night warming our home with friends and family, lots of dancing, food, drink (including a ridiculously generous bottle of @donjuliotequila from @tomchamlet which we managed to finish off in one sitting) but most importantly we got to say thank you to our amazing build team. They have not only built our forever home, but they have brightened our lives every day with their hard work, positivity and banter. We love them.

Anyone else been wandering around singing Bing Crosby all day? 🙋🏼‍♀️

This is the first layer of snow to ever fall on the house, and doesn’t it look pretty 🥰 We’ve had that perfect amount of snow - not too much to stop progress or ruin plans, but enough to make the village look stunning (swipe for snow)

Work continues inside today, with Al still in his shorts despite a -2 start this morning. Interior plasterboards are flying up, we can see rooms on the first and second floors - AND it doesn’t feel like a rabbit warren which is amazing.

Hurrah! We have been granted planning permission for a two storey rear and single storey side extension on the home I was fortunate enough to grow up in. We’ll be documenting our renovation journey here. My sister, Em, and her fiancé, Sam @thenwebuiltahouse are building their dream home at the bottom of the garden and are living on site for as long as they dare. Now on to the task of finding a builder. Any guidance is welcome!
