An open review & letter to @the8thbag , more specifically my brother, @theodore_ghorbany :

7 men, 8 bags, all different types of baggage. Family, the lack there of, the pressures, the pains, societal views and their own hyper critical views.

7 men, 8 bags, each waiting for something that doesn't come. Each bag is unique to the owner, the 8th bag contains the pressures that society puts on men on top of their own burdens and baggage that they're expected to carry.

To display your pains, emotions and hearts so openly like words printed as a book displayed for the world to see. The bravery each of you showed to bear your most vulnerable moments with us truly showed the behind the scenes realities that young men face in society today and how no one tells them how to carry that baggage and their own.

Thank you for bearing your hearts for us, your souls! You will never understand the impact it has had on those that watched this incredible show ✨ you've changed theatre and art in my eyes 🫶🏻

Theo, watching you tell your story was like reliving it with you, it was like watching our tiny T becoming the man he is today right before our eyes again. Displaying your soul for the world to see, I always said you knew who you were before we could even comprehend it. You were not born to God but to the stars where you've always belonged. For me you were always the light among the dark, the reason in chaos, the calm in the storm. You are and always will be my biggest teacher. To hold firm in who you are even when others couldn't understand or comprehend it taught me to be me truly and completely even when the people and world around me doesn't understand.
I'm so deeply proud to call you my brother, today reminded me of how far we've come collectively and separately.
Well-done and keep going until you reach the stars ✨

MEET THE CAST | THE 8TH BAG 🧳

Every face has a story. Every story carries a weight.

Before they became fellow travellers, they were strangers each carrying something unseen, something unspoken. In The 8th Bag, the cast brings to life a deeply human journey of identity, pressure, resilience, and the invisible burdens we often bear in silence.

They are:
MANDULO - Sandile Sibanda
MATIMBA- Masungulo Khosa
KWENZAKWENZEKE - Philasande Dlamini
NTANDOKAYISE - Thabani Mdlalose
NQUBEKO- Njabulo Vilakazi
JACK - Theodore Ghorbany
VIMBA - Sbonelo Vuwani
