This Photo actually shows how Ruggles really turns on after 6'. This is back when I was working for Jobless and Flite. I was Newport all the time. I got to surf this day as well as shoot a few Photos. I will run this by a few of the boys to see if they know who is making this unreal Bottom Turn at Around the Corner. Around the Corner November 1994. Newport R.I. This Photo appeared in ESM in 1994. #eastcoastsurfphotographer #eastcoastsurfing #ruggles #newportri

wanted to post these other two photos from the same day in 1986 of the East End of Long Island. I wanted everyone to see the true size of the Swell. They are both taken the same day as the Photo in my last Post. The Second one is Eric Penny Paddling out alone at Radar Point on a massive day. Eric was never scared of any size surf. He charged Waimea Bay just a few months before he passed away from Cancer, and was taking off behind Ken Bradshaw there. That was reported to me by a Great Friend who has lived on the North Shore for a very long time. This Day, I was standing with GV in Peter Beards front yard overlooking the Ranch and captured these three photos. The last one I posted and these two. The First Photo is GV standing in the Photo for me which I had to ask him to do. GV who was one of my Best Friends always had to be prompted to stand in front of my lens, unless he was in the water ripping. I stayed with GV and Allie most of the time when working in Long Island on the East End seeing Shops. Before that I stayed with Eric Penny another very close friend, before he moved to Hi. after he found out he had Cancer. RIP my two good Friends. I loved you both. The second Photo is of Eric Paddling out by himself at Radars. If you blow the 2nd Photo up, you can see him in the Photo in the Channel looking at the 2nd Wave in the set breaking! GV told me he had talked to Eric that morning, and EP told him he was going to give it a go. I asked Gary who the hell is that paddling out, he just looked at me and with the GV only attitude, said, "Who do you think that is"! I knew instantly who it was! Gary had access to Peter's estate as he did a lot of house painting for Peter. They had a guest house on the property and GV actually kept a Surfboard behind it in the Shower. When I stayed with GV and Allie, we would go here to check the surf on the East End often, he had the code to the gate for the property. I felt very, special to be able to shoot Line Up Photos there, not too mention the numerous times we scaled the long stare case down to the beach to surf the Ranch. Peter was a super nice guy & loved GV! RIP, Peter Beard, GV, & EP! Radar Point Early April 1986!

This one’s meant to be a conversation. We’re bringing together pediatric physical therapists, surf therapy practitioners, and a parent whose child has benefited from surf therapy to discuss how they measure outcomes across four key domains. Palma, Jessica, and Jerry want to hear your experiences, explore outcome domains they didn’t cover, and talk through what greater consistency across programs could look like. Their goal is to collaborate and spark ideas that advance evidence-based surf therapy. Thank you @jessohag and @physiosurfnj and their fearless moderator Palma 🤍 JOIN US on October 1-2nd for our 9th annual global conference. This one is online! 🔗 to Register in BIO!

So I promised myself after putting up the last set of Photos, and actually my first Post of Gene "Gino" Weiss which were funny as hell! As I go through all the Archival Photo Sheets of Slides, that were returned to me recently, that when I came across a few Photos of Gene I would put them up. I couldn't help myself when I found those Photos of him surfing in "Gene's Jeans" at Main Beach, because they had to be some of the funniest actual Surf Action Photos I've ever taken. With a funny ass story to go with it, I had to Post those! So these Photos are from a session in October 1992, Gene was still a Young Man and Charging, not that he's old now or not charging, but this was 34 years ago, and that's pretty crazy to say. It was October and we actually weren't wearing Gloves yet, which in October could go either way. "Gino" was getting some really nice waves during this Manasquan Inlet Session, doing a Floaters, hitting the Lip, and getting Barreled. These three Photos are all from the same Session. Matt Kechele, one of the best Surfers, Shapers, Coaches and Humans I know! East Coast Hall of Fame Inductee as well! Sebastian Inlet Local, but surfs wherever it's good in Fla. & one of Mez's favorite subjects to shoot! Whenever Matty would show up in Manasquan usually with Todd Kline, these guys would just score days and days of Waves. It never failed, it was amazing. I think it was this year that these photos were taken, 1988, Matt broke every board he had with him and had to start borrowing Dave "Ando" Andersons boards who was a Kech Team Rider at the time. The waves just wouldn't stop and we milked it to the end of the swell too. I shot from the Jetty for a bunch of days, because between him, Todd, Dave Anderson and the Inlet Crew the action was none stop, and then when it got a little smaller, but the water color was just so pretty, I swam out with a Water Housing, we did that for the next few days until the swell finally stopped. It was amazing the luck these two had when they came to town to see Accounts and Surf. I just came across all these photos of Matty, in my returned files from Mez. I found a few of Todd too, but I'll save those for another Post. I think Kleiny was like 15 at the time and was already hucking airs. Matt Kechele Manasquan Inlet, from the Jetty, and Deadmans, from the Water, June 1988 Taken with a Nikon F3 and a Century 650mm Lens. Kodachrome 64 Slide Film. 1st 2 Photos are a 2 Shot Sequence taken very late in the afternoon from the Jetty, but with that Aleeda Wetsuit he had on I knew I could shoot a little later in the day, that thing just popped, and Matty did it justice for sure. #eastcoastsurfphotographer #eastcoastsurf #easternsurfmag #quiksilver #kechsurfboards mattkechelesurfboards
