Cool zine/record release from Theoretical Movement commemorating The Communists, who were a short lived downtown band in 1978. They lasted less than a year but played Max’s Kansas City, CBGB and the no-wave showcase “Bands at Artist’s Space” before splitting up. The two-song flexi that comes with the zine was recorded at the Artist’s Space set and marks their first ever release, 48 years after their brief existence (!) Never heard of them until now and love these kinds of scene archeology projects.

A quick #newarrival , before I post the #records I bought this week later on. A great first release for @theoreticalmovement , who's been digging in the no wave archives so that we can finally hear this #band for the first time. A very nice #zine that comes with a 2 song flexi, really awesome stuff! #thecommunists live at Artists Space may 2nd 78

Record Haul 6-3 - Naked in Garden Hills by Harry Crews.. this supergroup formed in ‘88, for a very brief time, and consisted of avant-garde iconoclasts Kim Gordon @kimletgordon, Lydia Lunch @lydia.lunch.official and Sadie Mae (Lisa Timocich).. a cheeky send-up to grit lit modernist author Harry Crews, the album is a sludgy, fractured no wave trove of goodness, with most songs referencing Crews’ novels and stories.. Gordon and Lunch cover each other’s songs, and the entire record is a lost masterpiece of the era.. Lunch would resurrect the fantastic Gospel Singer much later with Big Sexy Noise! released in ‘90 by Lunch’s Widowspeak Productions, and never reissued.. listen now!!! #harrycrews #kimgordon #lydialunch #recordcollection #nowave @sonicyouth_official
